I plain on painting my four seat Goatbuilt Ibex chassis with Steel-It spray cans. Just the tube work, no panels or axle housings. Any idea of how many cans it would take? Think twelve is enough?

Find out how many feet of tube in chassis
Read steel it instructions on how many sq ft a can covers
Math?
:flipoff2:

I'd plan on 3 cases.

They go really fast.

Edit- I see they come 12 to a case, so probably 2 cases.

Other than being able to weld thru it, is Steel It that much better than regular paint?

At almost $40/can now, I dunno

Seymour has a new Stainless paint that comes out Satin apparently at about half the cost. Unknown on coverage of either.

My only experience with weld through primer is some SEM stuff, it covered fine, but actually welding through it was not pleasant.

I like how my chassis came out. Being able to do repairs and have it look 100% with a little rattle canning is pretty valuable. Seems durable when done correctly.

I wouldn't weld through it. It's just ss powder in polyurethane and that shit will burn all nasty.
