good am

so this past weekend i finally got to put some hours on the trail with mine. omg is it so fun. my preferred use of it is 205 in low magnum in high or neutral for most cruising around and easy trail drama. then when i hit a challenge i go strait to the magnum and makes it a 5 to 1 and love the ease everything works. no winding up TC to 3k to get it to move. it just crawls witch i love. and if i need to hit it its like being in launch mode, so much fun.

to use the magnum and 205 in high it requires me to move both 205 shifter to the high side, then get to a challenge move them both again to get to 5 to 1. and the 205 is not know for its ease of shifting so i like the other way so much better.

anyway just super happy with the combo.

Running around the trails I'll keep the 205 in low

the front axle can be floated in/out as needed On the fly.

When you roll up on an obstacle you have to stop, neutral, throw the planetary, and go.

Welcome to the club.

i will have to try that out. i have been running 4x4 all weekend never tried to disengage the front end. now i need to try that more on the fly...

You'll get a feel for it. Light pressure on the twin stick, bump the throttle and slack the drivetrain. Every setup has its touch

What motor trans combo? Any issues driving through the brakes?

5.3 th350 5.13 gears and yes it will drive through the brakes, weird thing is its not bad. very controllable if thats even a word. pop it into neutral alot. plans on switching to hydro boost.
Manual brakes? Looks like your only 69-1 in low low range? I don't know if a higher stall converter would help also?

I normally run in double low or 205 low.

Easier to just move one lever.

i have factory stall, like 1700 or 2k i cant recall. i love it. i enjoy not having to rev the engine up to get it crawling. love it the brakes are a tiny annoyance but no way bad.

So at an idle you're powering through the brakes with a 1700-2000rpm converter? Hmmm. I'm building with a very similar drivetrain (4l60 instead of th350) and I'm trying to avoid this at all costs as my wife will be driving it a fair amount. What's your brake setup look like?

I’m running a stock converter on a 4l60e and it doesn’t push through the brakes.

My brakes are really good though

I’m running a stock converter in the truck and a 2600 in the Jeep, both dont push through brakesn double low, even the Jeep with the shitty stock JK master. I run my 205 in low and shift the magnum when needed. I front and rear dig when needed.

Are either of you guys running manual brakes?

so playing around in the yard in low low and i can stop and hold if needed. give it any gas and it will power through easy. 1.25 master and toyota power booster. it does stop very at idle. but if i am giving it gas i am wanting to go forward

It will run right through the hydroboost disc brakes in double under. It is a manual, so I just push the clutch in..

It is somewhat amusing to put it double under rear wheel drive and stand on the brake and watch it push the skipping front axle around at idle. Not that lugging an engine is ever a good thing... but not worrying about stalling has it's advantages.
