Old workplace safety videos

Used to have a bunch of older safety videos like that at work. The got rid of them a few years ago cause we couldn’t get through any of them without laughing, or making comments regarding Darwin and thinning the gene pool.

Shake hangs with danger, a fucking legend of a video

That's what I was thinking of when I clicked this thread.

We watched in a 40 hour msha class. The instructor was pretty good about keeping it light, but then driving home the shit that matters.

I think it's called remember Charlie, that one is old but is actually a good watch. Basically they guy almost burned to death because he wasn't wearing safety glasses and goes through the whole process. Definitely made me think more about certain safety things.

You new to the internet or something? I've watched shake hands with danger and Klaus's forklift training videos like 100 times each now! I also whistle like Klaus at the end of the forklift video when I want to annoy my kid.

Is that the one where he was working in a fuel refinement?

Did anyone else have to sit through those "Take 2" safety videos? :lmao:

If I remember right he left the vehicle running and went to check something out??? There was a leak and the vehicle started the fire.

Was that the guy from New Jersey who worked in the petroleum industry?

Edit: shit, looks like that's already been asked. Yeah, that's the guy. He's got three parts to his story. The first being the accident, then the treatment, and lastly the family issues he went through. I think the tag line was "Remember Charlie".

Yes, refinery, left the truck running, no safety glasses, no long sleeve FR. All stupid shit that most of us probably think is dumb. He went to tighten a joint iirc and something let go, spraying him in the eyes. He was blinded, and was fumbling around, the fumes made their way to the truck and ignited.

The recovery part was rough, iirc, 6/8 guy in his "unit" didn't make it.

yeah, when he was describing the debriding tanks they would be dipped in that was pretty rough. Grown men just screaming like they were being tortured.

I know a guy who was burned something similar, like 80% of his body or something ridiculous. You never fully recover from that shit. He can't fully extend his elbow or shoulder because the skin grew back differently. He went in a few times where they would cut the skin so he could try and train it to grow more "normal" but I think he finally got suck of it. Completely changed the guys personality.

I met the guy... I sat through his lecture. Yah, he worked at a refinery as an operator (Don't remember what unit), exited his truck and left it running to check a piece of equipment. Ran when he saw the massive leak and kaboom. Burn ward for several weeks, skin grafts and etc...

I worked in refining for right around 25 years. Saw more than a few accidents.
