This technology keeps inching closer. I recently got a Pixel 9 Pro and was at my off-grid cabin yesterday. The phone has a "satellite demo mode" that lets you test the satellite connectivity. The cabin is in a hollow surrounded by mountains and forest with a very narrow path to the sky and the phone had no trouble linking up and sending and receiving messages. Right now it is for emergency use only, but word is two way texting is on the horizon. The phone comes with 2 years of emergency service for free. My 83 year old Dad was impressed and wants to upgrade his phone.This technology being in just about everyone's hands is right around the corner...
