Didn’t notice the worn input shaft that’s about to go in the truck. Weld up the worn spot and turn it down or turn it down and press on a bushing to avoid welding? The new pilot bearing is a sloppy bitch.

Odds are its hardened. Is it going into a diesel? i can tell you from experience that shearing that input sucks. If your stuck and have to run it machine a new pilot bearing to size. Swapping to fine spline is a bunch of work, if you do it right.

Whats the truck its going into ?

Whats the year of the nv4500 ?

Diameter and Spline count, pilot ?

I would replace the input.

118. And change for a GM shaft.

I'd turn it down slightly and press on a sleeve. That keeps heat out of the equation. In theory that surface shouldn't be spinning inside the pilot bearing to make that wear again. Guessing the pilot bearing was shot or they used an older bushing instead of a bearing. Once the the input started to rotate against it that wear accelerated.

Would advise a bronze pilot bushing instead of the roller bearing that most likely created the wear mark on the input shaft pilot.

When the pilot bearing loses lube and or the seal on the pilot bearing fails (if it has one) the bearing fails in short order and will cause the damage seen in OPs pic.

While the bronze pilot bushing is older tech it is more forgiving than the newer pilot bearing (there is more than one design of pilot bearing) , and easier to replace than the bearing.

Replace the input shaft and remove the bearing and replace with bronze bushing.

Roller pilot bearing im more use to than the full shield ball bearing.

I got my input off amazon for like a hundred bucks. Don't be a cheap ass it will come back to haunt you.

Funny GM went away from the shit needle bearing and bushing and went to the Full ball roller bearing in the LS engines because they're far better and last longer.
