Is there any reason why I cant take a Dodge NV3500, and replace the case front half with a Jeep nv3550.

Maybe an input shaft change. Am I missing something important?

I had planned to do this to a 5.2 Dakota I had. Seems like it was real close in length. Can't remember exactly though as that was a few years ago. I still have the complete 3550 thou if you need some measurements. If it's going behind a v8 you will need the earlier dodge V6 bellhousing

Edit: now that I think about it is the starter on the opposite side of the nv3500? Maybe that was on a v8 grand that it was on opposite side?

I had a JGC 4.7 V8 in my TJ. I used the flywheel, clutch, and pressure plate from a 2002 Dakota 4.7. I had a TJ nv3550 and the 3.9 Dakota bell housing. It had the starter on the drivers side with the v6 bellhousing.

Never had my hands on the dodge nv3500 to know what was different.
