Hello. I’m need a new shim gasket for my transfer case. I’ve been looking for a couple weeks now, but it seems everyone is out of stock. Does anyone know where I can get one or can I just use silicone and call it good? I figure there is a reason they call it a “shim” and it needs to be there for spacing, but not sure on that .

That's interesting, is your 241 out of something more modern? I haven't seen those on the 241s up through the late 90's, only ever saw silicone which I used with no problem. But that looks like it may have substantial enough thickness to keep the spacing within a specific range so bearings don't get preloaded etc. Do you still have the old one? If so, I wouldn't be to afraid of reusing the old one with both sides covered in RTV if the seals on the shim material are damaged

It’s out of a 99 Dodge Ram 1500 and came off a 231DHD (at least according to the label on the case). I do still have the old one so maybe I’ll just silicone it up and hope for the best or just carry extra oil so it doesn’t run low. Lol

After spending some time searching I came up with this:

Might want to give them a call to see if they're still producing it as it still listed in their last catalog from 2019. Out side of that, the original part number of QU11212 is no longer manufactured from what I can find.

Good luck with what ever direction you go...
