No. I'd never seen them anywhere other than Alaska prior to this year. Now I've seen them twice in NC this year.

I'm sure you could see them in CA. But they have been known to cause cancer in some studies and as such, they are now illegal too

The best chance of them being visible in Northern California is within a couple hours of midnight.
