Nitro gear and Axle Excalibur D60 U-joints, So who's running them? They worth a damn? I'm "still" trying to nail down someone who can get the Spicer "Extreme Joints" and getting no reply on them and price. Seen the Nitro joints and maybe interested in them. https://www.nitro-gear.com/Dana-60-N...np806x-exc.htm

I have the real longs. Never had a problem. I wouldn't buy the trail gear longs. If I had to buy new it would be the overson ones. But I hate the way you have to grease ctms or youkons. Completely retarded if you ask me.

Lots of places sell the Spicer Extreme. $750 at Jegs.

DAMN! $750.00!
I did find the Spicer Extremes are India made. A pair of the Nitros are $450.

Yea. Not cheap. The 44 versions are $500. At least they come with grease and the little gun. :flipoff2:

same boat here...except i broke my original longs (each side at different times) after 8 years of wheeling on 43s. I have the trail gear longs now since they warrantied them for free. I completely agree that if I were buying new I would buy oversons. i'm a big fan of bushings.

Went with the Overson. Cheaper than the Spicer Extreme and made in USA. They are definitely beefier and bigger than a Spicer joint, everywhere.

Do you have to grease the Oversons as much as Yukon’s? Wasn’t sure if the Yukon’s had the bronze bushings in them

Pretty sure the yukons do . I guess in theory you could grease the oversons less because the cross is drilled and should hold a little grease. But they are way easier to grease than a ctm or yukon. I put a couple pumps in mine every trip or every other trip. Ctms and many others have a zerk on each cap that you need a needle fitting for. I personally have had ctms and thought they were a pain in the ass to grease here is a pic of what I'm talking about.

That definitely seems harder to grease then the oversons. Any concern of the cross being drilled out and hurting strength?

im on stock 60 shafts and regular spicer joints with 40s and have been problem free but I’m bumping up to 43s in the future and figure chromos and better u joints will be inevitable

I'm on 42" PBRs with alloys. I have broke alloys with the Spicer joints. Yukons and other India made shafts. Last time I did break a Spicer that is in my pic with the Oversons and twisted the inner splines slightly. I can snap stock 60s, 35 splines at will. I also limit my steering angle on purpose as I have rear steer, so I don't have to turn the front tires as far as without rear steer. I run a centered D70 closed knuckle rear with 300M 35 spline Longfields that are now 300M RCV inners. I did break the longfield 300M inners last years after 14 years? I will be going to the RCVs in the future for the front, but have Branik Inners and some no name alloy outers now. We'll see how they hold up.

I drive like how you would road race. More steering, less throttle. Less steering, more throttle. Parts hold up better for me like that.

I do plan to go to a 43" SX sticky next.

Bumping this with some new info.
Loren Healy has put 100+ miles pre runnig KOH on the new Spider Trax / OX knock off U joints. They are 1550 size but use a special yoke/axle shaft.
Meanwhile David Hartman is changing his non needle bearing joints out every race due to wear.

Funny, I decided to order and do the research afterwards. Hopefully it works out for me.

I’m currently running spicer joints, Dutchman American made inners and Yukon outers. I’ll update my luck with the Nitros when they show up and I get a chance to beat on them.
