Not the most exitciting as a smith or ruger.
Hi Standard Sentinel. New in box.
1960 vintage.
Box and pistol are both in purfect condition.
I am not a collector, i shoot my firearms.
Do not know if i want to shoot it or just give it to my son.
The gun is interesting. The designer went on to work as the head designer for ruger.
It only has one screw on the gun.
To take it apart uses 2 pins

That would be a bit of a conundrum. If you use it it would diminish its value significantly.
Not many collectors of old high standard revolvers compared to smiths.
Does it have family history or emotional significance to you or your son?
If it doesn't, I would sell it for a premium and buy something I would use and shoot.
Unfortunately with revolvers the marks from use on the cylinders are easy to spot. I have no use for a 22 revolver.
Cool old gun. Makes you wonder about the situation where it never got shot.

I bought the gun from a friend about 10 years ago.
He is a gunsmith, he bought it at an auction. It was a lot of 10 diffrent new old stock firearms. The owner had a hardware store in north carolina. He closed the store in 1962, and packed away every thing. Fast forward 2000ish. The man passes away. Kids sell and auction off everything. Friend was in the area for work trip. Saw ad about auction. Stays a few extra days to attend auction.
Bought up all the guns that were there.
I bought the gun from him around 2012ish. Put it away as i was going through a divorce at the time. Kinda forgot about it. Had put in a box with gun parts and misc. Stuff. Same friend asked me about some parts for a k 22 a few weeks ago i had. that he gave them to me back at the same time i bought the gun. Found the box i put everything in.
Funny how shit gets firgotten over time.
My son just starting collecting guns. So i think i will just give it to him.

I have one of those but mine is "nickle". And by that I mean High Standard tried a run of nickled guns and their process didn't work. So most of it's gone. Still have the fake ivory grips. I've had it under the seat of my truck for years, no fucks given for condition.

Every now and then I spray it out with some cleaner, it always goes bang

Everybody needs a 22LR pistol, this would be perfect for your son. I wouldn't worry about collector value and just enjoy it.

man, i love that thing. i wouldnt shoot it at all. thats a time capsule. yes, its not all that valuable in the grand scheme of collectible pistols but its pretty awesome.

While I agree that it's a cool old gun, there's zero reason to not shoot it. It's not going to depreciate enough to matter... Maybe from $400 NIB down to $300 used in box. And it's a 22LR so it's not going to wear itself out.

Guns are meant to be used, not looked at. Use it.
