New Version of the 4 Link Calculator

Well, it has been awhile since the last large update. I did not intend for it to take this long. But I am happy to say that an early version of Version 7 is now out for use. I fully expect that it may have some issues. Thank you to YeeP for keeping some pressure on me to finally get around to fixing the last hold ups for getting this out.

Copied from the update page of the resource:
Does not include spring page or pitch page.

Tested on a 1440p and 1080p screens. Checked at other resolutions, but not thoroughly.
Only tested on Windows 10.

The full list of changes will be on the V7.0 release. Some changes are listed below.
  • Save to external file
  • Load from external file
  • Condensed down some tabs
  • Switched away from Excel.
  • Now in dark mode.
  • Rod end angles and angle ranges
I likely have forgotten some of the changes and new features.

ALL user feedback, good, bad, minor, and major, is greatly appreciated.

Regarding the spring and pitch parts. I think I finished all of the math and just have the user interfaces remaining. I hopefully will get to those soon. But, they do not seem to see much use based on the How's my numbers? thread, so they may not be a high priority. If for some reason they are, let me know and I will try to get them finished.

Edit: I will continue to help with the Excel version. But I do not have any plans at the moment of putting out any new update to it.

The program version downloads in a zip file. You should be able to run "Suspension Calculator.exe" in said zip, or unzip and run it. Just test it, and both approaches work.

Already found one issue while making sure the download works. Some of the rear plots on the links page did not get the formatting changes and the labels are covered.

so we are getting ready to place the upper links. if i have a total of at least 40 is there any substantial benefits gained. and please put in layman terms. like more angle makes it more stable on side hills for example.:beer::grinpimp:

when I go to load a saved file, it doesnt seem to load it. Am i just missing a step?
Hmm. I would try switching to a different tab and back. Are you sure that you did not just save the default values? If you want to attach the save file I will check if something is weird is going on.

It also seems to when I leave the calculator tab I can't get back to it. I can change to any other tab but back into the calculator

Hmm. I do not seem to be able to replicate these issues, even with a freshly downloaded copy.. I assume you are on the V7.alpha? What computer OS are you using, and would you be willing to share the save file so that I can see if something weird is going on?

I'm running windows 11 and I just downloaded the calculator. I'll uninstall and try again tomorrow. If not, I'll send the file.
