Picked up a new shitbox last week-ish.
1991 XJ. Got a 5" lift and 35-13.5 tires. Not really digging the air intake, but the price was right. Has a 8.25 rear end, 4.56 gears in both ends and Powertrax diffs front and rear.
It wandered all over the place initially, the track bar bushing was shot. Replaced that today and it tightened up nicely. The volt gauge shows 15+ volts, but a meter on the battery showed 14.2 at idle. Replaced the shitty batt cable ends with the military version.
I've got Bilstein shocks for all the way around, resi's in the back and mono tubes in the front.
Can't decide if I want to throw a winch in the bumper on there or build a new bumper that is a little lower profile.
Engine runs very well, smells like it runs a bit rich. Haven't driven it enough to know if it uses any oil, but it doesn't leak any! I will probably rob the air conditioning bits off my 94 to put this one back in working order. It has a SYE and and Adams driveshaft for the rear.
I have a set of 33' tires and wheels that I might try, the current tires are pretty worn.
I think I would like to upgrade the front knuckles and redo the steering to a non-Y type, and I'd like to build a stroker motor over the winter, but it may not be this winter...
I want to take it to Moab in the spring and see how driving a jeep there compares to the golf cart.
