What's new

New Ford Duallys are 6+ months out?

how the hell does he afford that? the insurance alone must be crazy.
He's raised by some good folks who taught him work ethic and to not fall for getting trapped by the man.
He has a very modest (these days) frame house (that his parents helped him buy and remodel).

Instead of going to college (he was a D1 running back recruit) they bought him the platinum F150 (before COVID).

He needs a stouter truck to pull his gutter trailer, "business expense" it is.

Lariat Ultimate is the same truck as the fag packages and if bought right I think it's the best deal.

Only difference from Lariat to King Ranch and above (excluding Limited) is seats.
The multi contour seats are bad ass, no doubt IMO. Worth $20k extra not likely.

Where are the controls for the seats? Could you buy takeout contour seats put them in a lariat and just flash the computer to get them working?

They're controlled from the sync 4 mostly.
The only control on the seat is a button in the center of the 4 way "d pad" that just turns on the massager to the previous setting set in sync 4, another press restores the multi contour settings and massager off.

I'm not sure if the wires are present in the floor but it's possible (I have no idea really) to retrofit via Forscan if the correct modules/wiring are present in the truck.

I'm stuck at the moment because the only way to get the exterior colors I want is with a King Ranch but there is no multi contour seat option. A seat swap won't be possible unless the F150 KR has MC available as obviously the KR seat colors won't match the other trims.

I'll say too I think the seats have modules in each of them, that has been the holdup post COVID, those modules are either short supply or the chips used to make them where discontinued.

It's so crazy to me that these are options on trucks for quite a while now. I mean how long ago did BMW or Benz start offering massage seats?

a new Ford, which is the lowest quality new vehicle I've ever owned. 2023 F250 in my case.

I bleed Ford blue like few others (currently own 11 Fords, everything from a 59 Bird to my 23 F250), but @ 1400 miles, here is my right front shock.

See, I feel like the lariat is somewhat reasonable, but the ultra fag packages like the platinum and king ranch seem pointless to me. Doesn't seem much different for even more money.

Although I believe there is now a lot of options within the lariat package.

I do find it funny when people complain about new truck prices, but aren't even willing to look at anything less than a loaded diesel. :homer:

It's crazy to me that you can basically double the price of a truck with options.

For 24, Lariat is between $9225 to $11,305 for

Body colored Door Handle
Fold/Telescope mirrors (available stand-alone for $280)
LED Lights (A negative long term for me, due to insane costs)
Different 18" Wheel
Dual Zone Climate
B & O Sound System
Siruis
12" center screen (vs 8)
Digital Main Instr Cluster
Rear Parking Sensors
Remote Start (although available on lesser trim through phone)
Leather seats/steering wheel/trim
Power pass seat.

Or, you can get the SO diesel. Some might consider the diesel a negative, but the 6.7 to me, is way more substantial than the list above.

I would not pay $1,000 to add all that shit to my XLT.

The only thing on that list I would actually like to have is the SXM radio. I wouldn't pay extra to have the ability to pay extra to listen to the radio, though.

Auto climate control is the one thing my father in law bitches that his '19 XLT doesn't have that his '07 LTZ Chevy did.

Cell coverage on the interstate has gotten almost good enough to kill XM, almost...

Got LineX installed today. Apparently, they will no longer do certain Ford tailgates... they were having issues with the LineX throwing a "tailgate ajar" code on the instrument panel. My "WTF???" look was met with "yeah... ". Apparently it's only certain Fords... doesn't happen on any other make.

Fortunately, they did mine.

I think they are getting too much build up around the latches or the pinch gap.

Mine has noticable resistance when closing. The dealer did mine so if it develops a problem I'll ask them what they would want to do about it.

They did a shitty job anyway, they won't be doing my next one.

Edit: also who gets their bed coated and not the gate? That decision was probably costing them.

They coated mine... that's all I cared about. :flipoff2:

i think you're correct re: build up around latches/pinch... Much happier with the LineX over the Ford liner in the 21.

Did they do they do the area between the bed and the tailgate? They only did that area on two of mine, they said they couldn’t get the wiring harness to release on the other trucks.

Pic so you can tell wtf I’m talking about. One of the trucks it’s not done on.

No coverage between the bed and gate, id imagine they are not removing the gate at all, that would seem very risky for low wage paint guys to be removing $4k+ tail gates.
The gap between the gate and bed when closed is non existent on mine. The bumpers also push too hard based on the build up thickness of the liner. Both would be easy to fix I think.

Mine was done the same, no liner in the gap. No issues with the tailgate.
same... except they didn't take the bed mounting bolts out when they did mine... but I honestly don't care.

They should not fuck with a man who is on medical leave :lmao:
Mine was doing the tail gate ajar after I got mine LineXed and I just removed the bumpers
I was thinking shortening the bumpers would be easy.
They should just mask that area...
