Got a chance to go to the range today to see how the new 308 is gonna run with the new whisper pickle.

PSA Gen 3 LR308 Lower and Upper flat top w/feed ramps
18" 416R Stainless barrel 1/10
Odin adjustable Gas Block w/mid length tube
Tool Craft BCG staked with high power extraction spring
Geissele SSA -E Trigger
PRI Gas buster charging handle
3.92oz carbine buffer
Springco Orange Buffer Spring

Here's from today. All grouped nice, except the Browning.

Now for the bugs, it's doing 2 things at once, It's seems undergassed because it doesn't want to lock back but seems overgassed throwing the brass about 1 o'clock without any gas adjustment. Open the gas up 2 more clicks and it cycled but is now still throwing brass to 1 o'clock and 2 o'clock at varying distances randomly and is also pinching the neck and nicking the rim on the brass as seen in the pic. I adjusted the gas block up and down without any changes from the 2 clicks above factory which cycled the best.

Unsurppressed on the left, Suppressed on the right

It looks to me like my gas tube is too short, could that be the problem? I'm new to this AR10 game so any help would be great.

A couple of things to consider and run down.
-Get your phone set up on slow mo and take a normal shot. Look for short stroking.
-All problems occurring with the same magazine?
-Try adding a light amount of pressure to the bottom of the bolt release paddle to see if it will even catch while cycling (potential weak spring or crud issue)
-I would turn the gas down to normal ejection without the suppressor and then see if it locks back there too. Add suppressor and see if any different
-Swap your extra spring out for a normal one and re-adjust gas.
-carbine buffer and carbine tube? (or rifle length, which would beat the shit out of the receiver and gas key)

Gas tube seems fine and 1 o clock ejection indicates it isnt necessarily a gas issue.

I suspect your extra strength spring might be the culprit, but need more data points.

1. May not get out to the range until next week, but I'll give it a look for short stroking.

2. 3 seperate mags but all Magpul

3. new gun so everything in it is new, lubed, and clean.

4. Did it, no difference between with or without can. Didn't lock back the very first three shots - unsurpressed. Adjusted gas block from there up 2 and it started locking back. Instantly showed signs of overpressure.

5. First 2 shots were regular spring, went to heavier spring for third shot, no difference. I then moved on to adjusting gas block.

After too many hours searching and a stop at the gun shop (not like the gun shops I grew up around, these new shops only know internet info, more like a manly Walmart where you can find stuff but don't ask anything technical).

I think it may be the buffer, might need a heavier one, either a H2 or H3. Might need to slow it down because I believe it may be coming back so fast it isn't engaging?

I don't know, I may be way off base here I learn from the internet like them....lol If so, I'm looking for all the help I can get.

Over pressure or over gas? Just want to verify that.

It could be you need a heavier buffer and lighter spring to increase the dwell, but allow the cycle to happen without being held forward with more pressure. That is why I am thinking it is the spring causing issues at a minimum

I picked up a Odin Adjustable buffer and an extra Geissele 1.5 oz weight today. Hopefully I can get out this coming week and mess with adjustable block, the weights and between regular and orange spring combo's I should be able to come up with something. I'll report back.

Thanks for the help.

I saw this same thing with a buddy's belt fed M16 when he was trying to get it to run and it turned out to be not only and undersized gas port (not your issue) but the buffer spring and buffer weight balance.
