Put this one together for myself. Chose 6 Creedmoor because I can (could) get good factory ammo for it, since I just don’t have time/patience to load.

Rubicon Precision house action
Proof competition contour 1:7 barrel finished @ 27”
Manners T4A Elite stock w/ Mini-Chassis
Henderson Precision ARCA rail & Harris adapter
PVA Jet Blast brake
Leupold VX5HD 5-25 PR2
Hawkins rings

Only have 20 rounds through it to get velocity and zero, but it shoots the factory Hornady 108 ELDM ammo awesome, and pretty fast.

Very nice.

What does something like that even cost? I don't even know what the parts cost let alone the labor from a competent builder.

Nice rifle and amazing SD for factory produced ammo.

What do you know about that new alloy from Bartlein? Supposed to offer 50%+ better barrel life. 400MOD BB.

I have no firsthand experience with them, but with a $200 upcharge, I'm a bit skeptical.

There are a number of guys running them around here on PRS rifles including at least one who had prototype barrel before they were released to the public. From what I'm hearing they live up to the hype.

6.5 Creedmore has a substantial following but I must admit that 6 Creedmore is new to me.
Is this the same thing only shortened name? or is this legit 6mm like 6BR?

It is a 6mm Creedmoor. It's not quite as popular as the 6.5 Creedmoor, but it is a legit SAAMI cartridge with plenty of factory ammo made for it.

6xc, 6x47. It's another variant of the same old thing that already existed, but it's got that cool CM name behind it. I get innovation, but it's really just a rehashed subject at this point. I'd like to see something new for a change. Maybe it's all been done and the only thing left is to tweak what's out there, but I doubt it. Can't wait to see how the rail guns progress to be actually usable at distance some day.

Go to Sportsman's Warehouse and pick up a box of 6XC or 6X47.....

There is a pod cast interview with George Gardner where he says that someone approached him about helping them write an article about making a wildcat cartridge. So they necked a 6.5 Creed down to 6mm. He then talked to Hornday about making a batch of brass and it all went from there. He also talks about how and why they made the 6GT.

Straight from Graf's. What's your point? Look, it's a nice looking rifle. I'll bet it shoots well. All I'm pointing out is that it's been done before. It'll be done again, no doubt. I wish you nothing but good ranking in your competitions.

I cut a ton of 6XCs, 6X47s and 6CMs (as well as a ton of 6BRs, BRAs, GTs), but the Creedmoor has by far the greatest factory ammo offerings, and available at regular retailers. It is absolutely a better cartridge design over a 243, and has its place within the other match based 6mms, but it has a huge advantage when it comes to factory ammo availability.

i mean, the 6cm is just a bandaid for when people have such shitty shooting mechanics, recoil management, and fundamentals that they give up on the 30 cal and try to mask their failures with "low recoil and flat shooting" because they cant be expected to read wind AND dial elevation and hit a target. so instead of practicing shooting thousands of rounds, making on the fly wind calls at different ranges (LOL at the guys holding up their kestrel on the line), they spend that time at a reloading bench or chasing some different wildcat as the newest "crutch of the month" to prop up those who cant shoot. :stirthepot::flipoff2:

This is exactly why I'm ditching 7.62x51 (but not my cherished .455 Webley) and taking up ax throwing and Serbo-Croatian Kung Fu.
Thanks for the day brightener and ensuing shitstorm...:laughing::laughing:

its also economics and the free market too. i know several guys who all they do is chase the latest hot shit barrel burner because for some reason every 0.1 mil they dont have to dial elevation or hold for wind makes them that much better of a target hitter or some such. but that sells $950 carbon wrapped barrel pre-fits, it sells custom chambering services, it sells $1200 re-branded Defiance Actions and so on and so forth.

so i get why smiths pimp out the newest 6/6.5/quarter bore/homosexual kitty cat named cartridges because why not? some guys are going to go shoot them, some guys are going to shoot them at 100 yards and rub them with a cloth in their garage and then post pictures on social media. but they're all going to pay.

As a builder, I wish people stuck with the 6CM!

99.9% of my customers are competitive shooters, and shoot a lot. Some shoot so much, they have me do 5-6 barrels at a time, a couple times a year. I never pimp out any cartridge though. I let the shooters come to me with what they want. BUT, 6 and 6.5 Creedomoor do have a huge advantage for someone that wants to shoot factory ammo, like me.

As far as making up for poor fundamentals, if you, and they guy competing next to you both have your fundamentals down, you're not going to want to shoot a 15 lb 30 cal 175 SMK at 2700 fps when he's shooting a 25 lb 6mm 105 hybrid at 3050 at small, multi-range targets.

OMG, me too. It's been so much easier finding FGMM 168s since they're clearing the shelves of 6.5 and 6mm. I've watched some of the PRS series locally and can honestly say, they game it so much it doesn't even look fun anymore.
I was in a conversation at our last match and we were talking about how much has changed in the last 5 years. Back then there were only a few custom rifles at one day matches, now there are only 1-2 guys who show up with off the shelf rifles. At our one day matches if you are not shooting 80-90% on every stage you don't have a chance to be in the top 5. One bad stage will knock you down to mid pack.

I'm a mid-level PRS shooter at best, and the guys that are in the top 5 are not shooting .308. We have one guy in our club as a hold-out and he does well, better than me for sure, but I seriously think that if he goes to a 6mm he's going to be national level.

I took your broad advice and bought a 6.5CM, what, 7 years ago because I could get good off the shelf ammo, and I wasn't hand-loading at the time. That rifle shot 3/8" groups at 200 yards, and the ammo has only gotten better. Shit, Berger was selling Lapua brass, with Berger Hybrid's that shot even better than the Hornady AMAX I used to get. Up until recently, Rob Leatham was shooting box ammo, not finishing top 10, but steadily improving his placings in our club matches.

We actively shame the gamers. We are very specific about not taking sight picture off the props, not starting in the approved position, and of course safety. I'm shooting a PRS style AR match on Saturday, like I do every month, and most of those guys are 3Gunners so we have to constantly get them into the PRS condition.

I went 6GT in my Badger/KRG rifle from 6.5CM. I was skeered of 6 Dasher and 6BR due to the super short barrel life, supposedly the Gay Tiger will last longer. I'm getting 2940fps with 109 Bergers, so that's plenty for me. Sitting at 1700 rounds down the pipe and so far so good. Has a Mk5HD and a EC tuner brake on it now.

It's my understanding that barrel life is related mainly to powder charge, the more powder the less barrel life. I'm sure shoulder angle makes a slight difference also. I would think that Dasher/BR would last longer than GT because they use less powder. I think I was around 2000-2100 when I pulled my last Dasher barrel. It was still shooting fine, but I was nervous going into the season finale matches. I also had my Lapua brass go bad at about 10 firings at that same time.

We'll see. I expect to be over 2.5k by end of the year...if,
