Hello,

My wife and I would like to do day rides in the Nevada or perhaps Utah area in the last part of March of this year. We have a BMW 800 and a 750 and some decent experience with ADV stuff. We'd like to stay at one or two places and ride during the day but do a motel at night.

We are from Southern Oregon, but snow etc. are what we are trying to avoid. Just a nice snow free area without a million people that we can do some two-tracks on and see some new areas.

It would be nice to get to stay in one or two places that have good riding around them. We have no issues with some pavement riding or most of it being pavement.

Any broad areas to consider? We would look as far as MOAB, but closer would be better. Don't really want to do the crowds of Moab.

Thank you so much for your ideas.

sacramento ca area, i did auburn to georgetown to wentworth springs rd to almost the rubicon, then to placerville and then to jackson via hwy 49

its all snowy there right now but if you wait till it melts it was a great ride with tons of small town stuff and hotels, oh and tons of forest roads that run wherever you want

i would just end the day out at south lake tahoe for a hotel, if it were me

I raced a National Hare and Hound out of Murphy, ID a few years back- seemed like lots of great mellow 2 track out there. Might be a little cold this time of the year, but desert and low elevation might keep snow at bay? Also pretty close to you.

Bunch of good riding like that around Green River UT. You can hotel it in Green River and do day trips to the north and to the south. Plenty of cool scenery, no crowds, and no snow.

Isn't Lee Vining going to still have snow in March? Or at least all the neat areas just up into the mountains. I spent a few weeks there for work. Definitely some amazing areas close by. That town all but shuts down during the winter though.

Mendocino national forest, 900,000 acres of trails, dirt roads, lakes, camping and scenery. There is snow up high but it's been 70 plus the last couple days and no sign of changing.

Most likely, but this year's snowfall was what?
once 120 opens it's all good...

Pony Express trail or Transcontinental Railroad if your a history buff.

Thank you all. I will look into those places. I just needed a few ideas. I know my area, but it is some distance away of course. Mainly trying to avoid the snow monster. I do live right close to Crater Lake. I know snow well....
