After ten years my HF easy mig 100 shit the bed. mainly the wire feed controller burnt up and the hobby transformer i hacked into it doesn't have enough V or A to keep it functional. Been wanting to get into gas shielded.

considering what I'm coming from is this much better? I just fabricobble here and there might use ten lb of wire a year. seller wants three fiddy including half bottle of argon and the cart. I like the variable volts unlike some with just hi low.

Buzboxes are easy to come by, check the new $$$
I have had a good build done with that model

That’s not a bad price. The stolen ones are usually $200 for just the welder. :flipoff2:

yeah guy local has a miller 225 ac box with 20ft leads almost half price of the one pictured. I use too much heat (too little talent) and burn through any thin stuff as it is. trying to move my hand arm three ways at once never worked well.

Old sp are good welders.
My new homedepot 140 has been a hell of a machine for 10years now. Dozens of 10lb spools through it. Will coat you 2x as much as that 125 but i have no complaints.

125 amps? Good enough
.030 wire will weld infinite thickness
the trick is in the preheat

bonus if it is a transformer machine without whiz-bang circuitry in it, that one's probably old enough that the feeder is just a simple brushed DC motor, so if the speed controller does shit the bed you can just cobble some shit together to take its place

You can go to TSC and buy a Hobart 140 for $500 brand new, sometimes cheaper with the right promo code.

Yep had one at the last shitbox shop I worked at. Didn't realize they were only $500 thought I remember 7ish. Rather buy used so I wait.

No reply on unit pictured so either sold or stold and dude got caught.

Suit yourself. But if I was looking at $350 for used or $500 for new, that would be a no brainer for new

In my experience anything small enough to be desirable is not worth buying used. For example I've been looking for cheap tigs any ahp/Eastwood/blue or red machine will sell in less than a day for 80% or more of list price.

I bought a 210mvp from farm and fleet for 700 with shipping and 2 30lb spools. Could probably sell it for similar after running 10 or more spools through it, hard to beat at that price. What I've found recently is a lot if specialized items are more economical to buy get your use out of them and then sell than rent or try and find best deal on marketplace/craigslist.

Old Lincoln's work good. You can only weld up to 1/8 materials, some 3/16 materials if you prep the joint with a bevel and some pre heat. Get .030 70s6 wire and 75/25 set the heat to max and wire speed about half. When it hits duty cycle drink a beer and repeat

look for a miller 330a/bp on the craigslist
sometimes they're way cheap because people are scared off by the whole 600lbs deal

Welding thick material with a tiny wire feed is a massive pain in the ass. You can do it but it's just not worth it.
