We have a spreadsheet that I wrote up about 10 years ago that we use for our broad scheduling - See it all in one place kinda thing. Today it wont open saying "the file format or file extension is not valid. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file"

Its a ODS file that we have always opened with excel. I busted out my old laptop that has opendocument on it and get the same error.

Of course it hasn't been included in the files we back up nightly....

Am I screwed? Can someone get it to open for me? It's not a lot of information but it defiantly makes my day a lot easier,

It is originally and OpenOffice Calc file or a LibreOffice Calc file. Those apps a free I think. Try downloading one of those and see if it will open. If it does save it as a new file then see if Excel will open it.

Wouldn't surprise me if MS dropped support for it.

Also this, and yes it's free. If you can open it through OO, try saving it specifically as an excel file.

Might also try converting it outright then opening it with Excel.

I did already, says the same error

depending on the version of windows, and depending on if it's turned on you might be able to restore a previous version. right click on the file name and then left click on properties. the tab all the way to the right is "previous versions" If you have it turned on you should be able to restore an older version.

good luck
