The GF checked online yesterday to see if/when she is getting a stimulus check. The IRS told her deceased people don't get them. She starts troubleshooting the issue, and is directed to resolve it with social security this morning.

Since the local social security office is closed to in-person visits, they're using the county clerks as a sacrificial office staff. She went in this morning and proved she is indeed alive. County clerks couldn't share info from the SS office for security reasons, but SS has since let her know that she died on 11/30/20. We're still waiting to find out how and where.

Anybody had to deal with this before? What kind of headaches are ahead?

I reminded her that she no longer has to pay income tax. But, she's got health care for her minor girls, I'm covered as domestic partner, and it's probably going to be a felony when she cashes her own life insurance policy payout.

You should’ve married that woman, then you would’ve been able to apply for survivors benefits.

Sucky deal.

At least she’s exempt from any further taxation.

Depending on how/if his state does common law marriage, he might already be married and eligible for survivors benefits.

Past that, Netflix has some fun ideas for what to do when you're dead, watch 6 Underground (it's a bad movie but decent FX and silliness) and roll from there.

TN doesn't recognize common law marriage or so I've been told. We're 5 years in, so probably not there anyway.

She does have a life insurance policy. I'm a beneficiary for the appearance of 'domestic partner' on her health plan. :grinpimp:

sounds like there's a perfect crime waiting to happen! Can a dead person be arrested? :lmao:

This is the no titties thread then?

I'll submit Claire Forlani ftw. :flipoff2:
