Looking at a later model GT for the spousal units summer car, anything good/bad about the 5.0 and 10 speed auto

I don't want to be replacing clutches every year, so yes auto it is :flipoff2: . Looking for probably 2015 and newer low milage unit. New ones are scarce and full sticker right now. .

Priest knows whats up with those.

edit:
shit, does it not do tags now?

Those 8,9&10 speed trans are pretty amazing. With only 4 in my old Ford SD, it seemed like I could have used a gear between 3rd and 4th, now in my Ram I've got 8 and most times don't even know what gear it's in and don't care. They're great for driveability and I haven't heard anything bad about the Ford/GM 10 speed.

Wife has a 19 auto 10 speed 5.0. Fuck it is amazing. The first auto I have driven in a performance car where I didn't miss the control of a manual. The mode selections make a difference. No reliability issues at all so far 1.5 years in and she drives everything like it's an on off switch for throttle and brakes. Ours is factory stock.

If you can swing an 18+ car do it so you get the direct/port injection and the 10 speed. The 18+ cars make more power and the 10 speed flat out works they run high 11's bone stock.

15-17 are also a good car but the 6R80 isn't quite as magical as the 10 speed.

10 speed started in 18, smokes a manual. I owned 2 2017 gt's with the track package and one also had the premium package(worth it imho) look for a 2018 10 speed with perfomance package level 1

Is she extra sporty, or incompetent? My SU goes about 120K between clutches...well, in a Subaru, so maybe not the same.

I drove the 21 10sp auto, it moves pretty good. It was hard to tell it was shifting through that many gears. Not so sure I know how drag and track mode work yet, but it has a line lock

The used 2018+ are stupid prices and thin on inventory in the NW. I just bent over and my wife has a new anti-matter blue one. It was the only GT auto in western Montana and she liked the color. She’s happy and won’t give me shit for buying parts for a while

It’s the only car we have bought that wasn’t last years leftovers or used.

She drives with two feet, after 30 years we are both happier if she just drives automatics. Brakes are cheap :homer:

Wife got a left over 19 In jan of 2020. It was cheaper than the certified used 2018 gt we were looking at..she wanted good gas mileage so we got a eco boost 4cyl with 10 speed....I was like meh..ok ..her car

Then I test drove it ......hit 100 mph on the on ramp. :) ..I was impressed...has more HP than our 1998 gt 4.6 had...

And she avg 31 mpg on the highway...every time I drive it I smile..... 32k miles on it with zero issues

The turbo 4 cyl ecoboost is 350HP, so it's pretty sporty also. I was pretty impressed with coyote engine, and I think they did a good job with the factory setup on these cars.

it should have read "no, but we can change that..."

Not what you're after, but I have a '13 and it's been the best car I've ever owned. Almost 8 years and 56k on it and not a single issue, aside from an airbag recall that wasn't Ford's fault. Has been Paxton supercharged for almost a year and a half and still doing great. Will never get rid of it, unless my financial situation absolutely hits the fan.

A friend of mine got an 18 new, and let me drive it. I haven't been in a fast(ish) car in a while, so my opinion is off.

Doing a mock 1/4 mile run, it felt like being on a sport bike while in a car. At the time I had a VFR800, and I think this thing would've beaten it bone stock. The 10spd didn't feel "shifty" at all and the programming seemed dead on. I never really noticed what gear it was in, or paid any attention.

With dealers tags it was cam, heads, supercharger, etc fast compared to 20yrs ago.

They sell a couple superchargers for it that will push it up over 700hp for about $8k  . We might see how well 460hp works out first . That's a scary amount of power in car without a cage.

I have a 19gt but not a 10 speed. Mine felt slow ish when I got it but I have swapped the rear end to a 3.73 unit from a PP mustang and it feels a lot quicker. I have only used mine as a track day car so cant speak to the reliability of the car, If I was looking for one for my wife or kid I would get it non PP one and it will drive more like a family sedan instead of a track car.
