What's new

muh new Mercedeez

What kind of new faggotry is this?
Someone clue in the old man that's clearly out of touch.

I was expecting something to the tune of "trans temp out of range" in the stored codes but nope, just a generic solenoid code.

Should be able to test resistance across the solenoid without even dropping the pan. Could be a cheap repair if that's all it needs.

So can I just test resistance to ground by probing at the TCM in the dash with the car off or is there some special shit I gotta do because Diamler?

Looks like 38, Yel T78 is a common +12v for all the solenoids, and then 15 YEL/GRY T73 is prob a switched ground thru the PCM. id unplug the connector @ the trans and measure resistance across those 2 wires, as close to the solenoids as possible. Id assume its the same solenoid used in multiple places, so test all 6 to see if the 3-4 solenoid has a way different measurement than the others.

I would first check for any moisture in the connectors at both the transmission and tcm. If the fluid wicked up the harness, it needs to be cleaned, dried, then retested. If also crack the tcm open and verify nothing burned from shorting out.

This guy, right?

Looks pretty wet to me but I don't know what's acceptable.

Keep in mind everything downstream of the trans pan is fucking soaked because the last guy just kinda tossed it together for testing and it leaks.

The harness itself outside the plug looks dry buy I assume it wicks inside the wires not outside them.

Where is the TCM? Internet says it's under the driver's knee panel to the right of the column but I don't see any sort of module here.

In before OP lets the smoke out of the TCM and blames a Boomer.
Says the guy who drives shit with a warranty. :lmao:

Yeah that's basically my plan if the wet harness thing doesn't pan out. I prefer to test from the TCM end so I can measure the resistance as the computer sees it.

Tcm isn't tough to get to on a real mercedeez. I have the same trans w/230k on it, for some reason it won't rev past 3k without upshifting. Floor it, it down shifts like its supposed to, sees 3k and immediately upshifts again. Hold your foot on the floor and it keeps doing that on repeat. Im not fixing it because beater life.

Do you ever get tired of being wrong? I'm pretty sure neither my 2014 F150 nor my 1998 4Runner have a warranty.
I could've sworn you bough a 2020-something that was still pretty new. I don't really keep close tabs on what the ex-commiefornian carpetbagging types are up to.

I don't shit up your threads about target practice with the other fudds so maybe don't shit up mine.

Anyway, I hope you get shot when a cartel type decides he likes your truck.

No clue, it's under the driver's seat in a sprinter. The fluid wicked up the inside of the wires, and no fluid is acceptable in the connectors, the adapter o-rings have failed.

Is there any chance the last guy just was a little too rough with it installing the valve body and it's a recent thing?

I'll get to work on locating the TCM. Doesn't help that only some WKs have a TCM and it gets confused with the transfer case control module. :shaking:

That's only on the www. He'd get punched in the mouf on a regular basis if he did that in person.
It takes more words to do in person what I can say in the sentence on the internet.

Post a thread in chit chat and bitch about shitty comments:lmao: The amount of threads you have shit on also makes your comment :lmao::lmao::lmao:

If you wanted tech, you oughtta post up in the tech forums:homer:

dont be a bitch:flipoff2:
I didn't take his keyboard away. I reminded him that I mostly avoid shitting up his threads.

No, they generally begin leaking in 3 to 5 years just due to o-ring shrinkage. Knowing how Grand Cherokee owners like to maintain their transmissions, it has most likely been leaking for the better part of 15 years.
