Shitbox, obviously :flipoff2:

The goal here is to get this running/driving well enough to pass inspection once and then give it to my girlfriend's parents.

So far I'm in for $500 for the car, $47 for the Uhaul and $54 for gas and $20 for an assortment of resistors (we'll get to that in a minute).

So here's the ad. Thatg9659 said it'd been for sale for a year. Per the seller it had been but he just recently dropped the price way down to make it GTFO at which point he was inundated with a bunch of Arizona types asking if it still has the cats. The price drop explains why I'm only seeing it now.

The seller is a mechanic. He got it as a result of non-payment. Allegedly the PO was some old man who got diagnosed with something terminal and said fuck it and stiffed the mechanic :smokin:

Everyone told me this would be a massive POS. Starts up and runs great, drives great at low speed. Needs pads and rotors from sitting. No leaks, no noises, All the dumbass interior doodads work. :shaking:

Seller lied about limp mode. It tops out at 30.

Rust situation. Could be better. Could be worse. Pretty good for Vermont IMO. That place is a shithole of poorly maintained gravel roads. Makes New Hampshire look like motherfucking Dubai.

Inner rocker is the only thing that is gonna need more than a hose down with the sand blaster and some rattle can.

"frame" and the structural areas where the "frame" meets the body are all in exactly the same shape across the entire vehicle so you all get two pictures instead of ten. :flipoff2:

Seller said that the sensor that's causing it to be in limp mode is part of the valve body and can't be bought separately. He said he slapped a reman in and that didn't fix it. He said he checked the harness over and couldn't find any problems (and I believe him because he diag'd and ran a wire to fix an ABS issue that a normal person wouldn't have fixed on a vehicle like this). Seller said he called Mopar and asked about buying a reman from them and they told him that all the "lesser" rebuilders just rebuild the solenoids and ignore the sensors. Apparently that wasn't enough to convince him to pay whatever they wanted for one because he said that's what made him put it up for sale.

It came with the old valve body in the trunk.

There's one guy on the internet saying that a 1K ohm resistor will fix it in a thread from 5yr ago with no confirmation

Right now I can't do jack shit because my code reader is off with my uncle 40min away.

Transmissions are all over for $150-300 (couldn't get them all in one screenshot) so worst case I'm out that much and a bunch of time.

Funny. I just ended up with my mom's '07 GC. V6, AWD, no low range. I don't like it, but can't get rid of it until we go through probate.

Is that a NAG1 transmission? If so, you can buy a conductor plate with the sensors in it for cheap. Its the same part in the Sprinters from 2002-2018.

You will want to replace the plug adapter while removing it (the o-rings begin to weep, allowing trans fluid to wick up the harness to the TCM, another cause of limp mode).

You can find this stuff cheaper at times at www.millionmilesprinter.com , he's based in Philly. You can order everything you need all at once: Complete Transmission Overhaul Kit | millionmilesprinter

While in there, change the fluid and filter, replace fluid with Valvoline MaxLife ATF. It was the first fluid in North America to meet MB Specs for the NAG1. Its exponentially cheaper than the offerings for it, like Shell ATF134, Fuchs 4134, etc.

No he is fucking not. He woulda fixed and flipped it.
Its a rusty Daimler era unibody luxo jeep in the rust belt.

Sure, he could have spent 4 hours figuring shit out. For what, a $750 increase in gettin price?
Sell it to get it out of your way and concentrate on shit thats paying you.

No but the girlfriend sure knows how to. :flipoff2:

Seriously though, I have no idea what trans is in it yet since I was waiting until I got my code reader back tomorrow to touch it. Is there an easy way to ID?

You gonna' Bondo the holes in the "frame" sections or step up to a full-on legit fibberglass-based "rebuild" before you hide your sins in undercoating? :flipoff2:
Foam fill the frame and rocker. Skim then sand with Bondo. Add bed liner. SOP for "needs to pass inspection"

It's not about being safe. It's about giving the tech plausible deniability to pass you.

Based upon the valve body with conductor plate attached in the photo, its a NAG1.

"first come first serve" has led to fights in my driveway before.
Bout had one yesterday over a rotted out exterior door.
Was like it was gold plated or something. Threw it on Facebook before bed. Wake up and had like 40 messages for it. People wanting to drive 500 miles for a door that's maybe $350 brand new.

Got woe is me stories about pregnant single Mom and they despprettetrally need a door for their house, will I.install, etc.

To the point that that one person even resorted to death threats after I replied saying it was gone.
Wtf is wrong with people!
