My grandson traded for an F350 with a 460, drove it home, drove it for a few weeks, then noticed a miss

We did compression test and found a zero :eek:

Pulled a head yesterday and found...

Ouch. Well... at least you have the head off and it is a relatively straight forward fix. Just need to find the cause. :emb:

Old leaded fuel era 460 without hardened seats. Pull the other head and get them rebuilt with new seats and a valve job and it'll be right as rain. Assuming nothing else is pooched of course.

Edit:

I see it's missing part of the valve now that I blew the pic up. As long as the piston and cylinder wall is ok I'd do a valve job and put it back together.

other bank has 180psi across the board...this side was 180-175-175-0

Perfect, I'd be tempted to do a quick drill lapping of the valves and stick a new one in that hole and slap it back together. With an even number across the board being that high it would t bother me a bit to do it at home. That's a solid engine if the bearings are sound.:smokin:

Nows as good as time as any to go through both cylinder heads since one is already off, or stick a junkyard valve in it and lap it with a drill :flipoff2:

Or I think I have a 4.500 stroker crank if grandpa wants to build him a 557 for Christmas.

I think a Ford V-7 is the perfect engine to keep kids from doing drift takeovers on city streets with idiots hanging out the windows of the cars.

I'd just leave it the way it is and tell the kid to keep his foot out of it.

:flipoff2:
