So...
I was at a local 'salvage' store yesterday... full of Delta bathroom towel racks, soap dispensers, knotty pine doors, assorted millwork... stuff other box stores couldn't sell or were refused.
i went in to take a look around and found some very nice clear maple crown molding that would work great on the GF's remodel. 3 1/2" x 8'....$2.99 per STICK.

Checked with her and got the go ahead so went back today at lunch to pick it up. As I am getting ready to pay, I notice they are pulling out a bunch of Milwaukee tools. I go over and look and the lady working the section said they were $49 each... I thought she was joking and she said nope... they are a shipment that was supposed to go to Spain but ended up getting refused and into salvage. they were a couple of years old, but still NIB. The reason they were so cheap is the charger is for European 220 VAC.

I knew I already had a charger and could wire 220 for these if needed, so I bough 5 M12/M18/M18 Fuel tools that they had... $49 each.

Got them home and opened them up and 4 of the 5 had dual batteries, and one of the M12 had a single battery.

Batteries are on the charger now... we will see how many come to life.

here is what I got:

The last one is an SDS drill.... I will rig up a cord for it... :)

Anyway, wanted to share the score.

Edit: Euro 220 is 50Hz... it seems to me this should not cause an issue. Anyone think differently and if so, please share.

So none of the M18 batteries will charge, but all of the M12 will.

I get a single red led flashing on the battery and the charger flashes red/green. Gonna have to look into it....

I will check the new chargers for a frequency spec...

nice score!

If you are into solar stuff...some inverters have a switch or setting that sets them for 50Hz... I know mine do.

The 50/60Hz shouldn't be an issue for something like that I wouldn't think. More of an issue on what speed a motor will operate.

Are they the same batteries as the US version? Can you just put them on a US charger? I'd think that 12V or 18V would be 12V or 18V.

So, what's the store?

Some of the 'tubers I've seen have brought them back with a DC power supply and forcing juice into them. The electronicals in the charger/battery won't allow them to charge if certain conditions aren't met and the DC power supply circumvents that. Worth a shot.

figure out which is + and - on the 18V batteries and check them with a multimeter. if the voltage is too low, the charger won't charge it. then, take a 1 amp automotive battery charger and hook it up to the battery for a minute to get the voltage up, and quickly move it to the Milwaukee battery charger. Hopefully it will have enough voltage to charge the pack. I've had to do this a few time with tools at home and work that don't get used often an it almost always works.

I see the PA - anywhere near Harrisburg, PA?

Sorry for the lack of clarity. Winston Salem NC

Kept my screen name when I moved out of PA in 2011.

As for the batteries, I keep putting them on the charger, let them fail and swap them out... so far brought 2 of the M18's back to life. All of the M12s charged 1st time in....

Gonna try the DC PS option this weekend if I don't have any additional success.

Hey man, any interest in selling to us at a decent market price %20 above your plus shipping at least?

'*edit I was buying Milwaukee stuff before they were popular and would never pay more then $10 an amp hour shipped to me. Sadly for me thats way over...

Send me your list... I will stop by in the morning and get whatever they have left.
Dang bro what do they have left? I'll PM you if its not to much hassle let me know what they have left but even two m18 batteries before they were popular I paid up to $10 an amp hour. That has expired in the last few years I was a early adopter before Home depot worked at anti theft I suspects as well.

look at my pics... that is all they had. I bought one of everything... ;)
Thanks man I'll research them tomorrow when I'm at work. Happy for your score if it works out for me and you yaa if not glad you scored... Thanks for even entertaining the idea!

just what you saw in my pics... I bought one of everything they had
Did you go back Friday morning? I swung by and grabbed 4 M12 and 2 M18 tools. She said someone had been there yesterday and then again that morning to buy more and gave a tip about power cycling the M18 chargers to get the batteries to start charging. Figured it was you.

Also, fuck you. I didn't need these.

Yea.. that was me,,, :)

And went back on Saturday with my son to get stuff for him.

And I didn't NEED them either...

Don't be a hater... :)

What I did with the batteries (M18 only, M12s we all chargable 1st try) is put them on the charger, let them fail, then swap in another battery, let it fail, then keep rotating the batteries... after 4 or 5 'cycles' they all fully charged.

There is a 'jump start ' procedure using a dc power supply, but this was free...

Good luck!
