i friend of my uncle has a miller 161 stl taht he wants to get 700 for. is that a good deal and a decent welder. if so ill see if he’ll will through in the tig torch for 700 and if not offer 600.

What are you wanting to use it for? If tig welding I would pass.

I have never run one but I imagine all of the small dc inverter welders are on about the same playing field.

You can do the same work with a sub $100-200 inverter stick welder.

I have a longevity 140? Amp that I have beat on for almost 10 years

Thats not a bad price. Usually see those going closer to 800-100 for the STL version. Good little portable welders.

But like Twankie said, its not the best bang for your buck if you just need a fixed location tig welder. DC only, not a ton of options. For 700 bucks you can get an AHP Alphatig that will do ac, pulse, balance control, all the stuff.

2 different welders for 2 different purposes. If you are building hand rails on site or need something to run while on a boom lift that 161 isnt a bad deal. If you need a shop welder there are better options

depends on what OP is using it for
specs look lite in my book, but that is for my shop, not yours

They are a decent pack around stick welder. We have 2-3 of them in the plant and they will burn a 3/32 7018 on 110v more reliably than my cheap primeweld will. If I had a decent number of jobs where I needed a light 110v welder I would buy one.
