So.. it seems that a lot of my shopping and ordering has been outsourced.

Ive ordered from whole foods via amazon prime, good experience. Havent tried vons or ralphs direct. Never used postmates or grabhub, but have used uber eats because I have the uber app already.

Anyone use these services frequently for groceries / food?

Going to a store is such a drag these days, that I will happily pay a 5 dollar fee just to avoid it

The wife does grocery pickup, where she orders online and then meets in the parking lot. It's nice but if you want to add a last minute item you can't.

The fancy amazon kiosks in Seattle look pretty cool. From what I've been told, you set up an account, pick your items and just leave.

We do groceries thru Amazon Fresh. Have been since my son was born as it was just easier and more convenient than going to the store. Wife likes to do Target grocery orders too.

we do grub hub and door dash for food delivery

the above of course are all pretty much going to end for us in June when we move to rural Maine I am sure.

wife also is now getting her prescriptions delivered thru amazon instead of going to the pharmacy. That we should still be able to do along with Prime Pantry orders. It sure is convenient

Buy from Amazon, Walmart, and Costco for home delivery of canned goods and such.
Beemerchef orders from Walmart then picks up at the store, just drives up opens up the trunk they set his grocerices and he heads home. So he never has to get out and take a chance at gettting infected.
Last year I ordered my Aunt in Phoenix food from wholefoods to have it delivered to her house, sliced turkey and such, worked pretty good

I have tried Grub Hub when I felt really lazy but I am also cheap so don’t use it anymore. I have found that they have the delivery fee, the tip for the driver and then the per item price for the food was also more than you would pay in the store. I checked out the last on the restaurant‘s website and compared to the grub hub website.

My wife has used walmart delivery a couple of times for groceries, I’d say for $10 it was worth not having to go to a walmart.

We used to use peapod grocery delivery pre covid and it was awesome! They pulled out of the chicago market like 4months before covid hit. Their meat and veggies were awesome, so if you can get it in your area, highly recommend. After that we tried shipt a few times didn't really like that and now just go to the store. I hate grocery shopping with a passion, we may try publix delivery here soon since our options are kind of limited now. My wife uses grub hub occasionally and likes it.

I yell at my wife for doing this when I'm on the road, such a waste of money. She was working 3rd shift and didnt want to deal with it. Otherwise I'll do the shopping since HEB is 2 miles away, and college girls apparently hate wearing bras.

I did uber eats once because of a $30 promo, then promptly deleted the account.

I use Instacart for Costco when I have to do a trip to the next town over to my rental house. Instacart won't come out to my house. :homer:

I've had real good luck so far. The only bad is some of the items in Costco won't show up in Instacart.

I do this because it is 1 hour from my house to get to CC and it is 40 mins from my rental. It is actually cheaper for me to pay/tip the driver than go through the aggravation of dealing with CC especially with mask junk going on. I'm not sure how the driver makes a cent on my order:lmao:

But you are missing the sophistication and ambience of the Walmart clientele🤡🤡🤡

I keep looking for ways to keep more of my money...

Seems like our society is trying to bleed me dry at a every turn nowadays... Not sure how you guys do it.

Time man. It will take me 1.5 hours to do something I can pay 10 dollars to someone else to do. So in a sense, I am buying myself time.

My fiancee uses door dash for groceries frequently. She does not like going to the store. I don't mind going to the store, so 3 times out of 4 I will shop in person. If I am busy, I will gladly pay for the door dash service as my time is worth more than the door dash premium. I also don't mow my own lawn or pick up dog poop. I have better shit to do with my time. Like post on IBB.

WebVan existed back in the 90s where I lived. Same problems plague both. People don’t like the produce picked or the substitutions made. I don’t expect Uber eats to last for long past covid 19 being cured.

Some places also bitch that they then get less than normal from the delivery service as well. Heard of multiple small/local type places now refusing online orders because it’s always a money fight/loss.

I drive to the store, shop by unit price, buy meats in bulk to fill the freezer, and go on my way. Takes an hour a week.

That’s were I’m at, I’ve had roommates and gf’s that always almost every day “needed” something from the store, they were also always broke.

We used to do that. When we lived at our first place, the store was walking distance. I used the same practice of shopping by unit price and sales. But we only had the small freezer. Our place now, the PO left a decent size freezer, so I keep that stocked. We then scored another freezer and that on gets used too.

Wife needs to get a little better at pulling something out of the freezer, but we have it figured out pretty well.

This. I also don't pay someone to deliver gasoline to my car.

x3

i go to costco maybe once a month or slightly less and to the local grocer every two weeks or so, and i work from home. lots of times i only leave my house 3 times a month because fuck socializing

and fuck having some walmart door greeter picking out and delivering my groceries, i prefer reaching to the back and picking the item with the longest expiration date/freshest item

Werd. I go grocery shopping maybe once a week and costco once a month or less. I actually enjoy shopping so I'm not super worried about wasting an hour a week of my time.

My ex figured out walmart grocery shopping online saved us money because we didn't end up with a bunch of shit not on the list.

I'd love to have a Costco or something nearby. I'd stock up on so much stuff.

Man that’s the other issue with going to the store in person. Especially with kids! Seems every time we go for something specific we wind up with 15 other things we didn’t actually need or plan to get.

So this is main stream now?.... project "Boiling the frog" is almost complete....we're so fucked. Thanks butt holes.
