Had to cut off the bolts as they just spun in the holes when attempting to remove them to swap crossmember below rear cab mounts.

Can turn them with a pipe wrench but need to access the area where the captive nut is caged and cut it loose.

Would like to be exact not ruin the back of seat area with multiple holes.

Thx

Found replacement body mounts

I suppose no one has experienced the cab bolts breaking and or the captive nuts spinning ?

Only way I've seen/read is to use a hole saw and cut out above the nut. Then weld a new one in and weld the cutout back into the floor pan.

My 84/85/86 has the (rear cab mounts) captive nuts up in a blind area most likely under a flat 6" or so wide front to back and about 60 inches long side to side.

Need to do some creative measuring and pick a hole saw size that is easily plugged with a electrical conduit box plug.

You've gotta cut the sheet metal to access the captive nuts, it's been a minute since I've done this but I don't recall any other way.

Made a tool from a 7/8 bolt to drill up from underneath to make sure I have a point of reference so the holes are placed correctly.

Yes, only to align the drill bit that cuts thru the bolt to give indication of where to drill from the top.

As you can see from the pics my access hole was a bit larger than actually required but it did give useful clearance side to side.

Just need to measure from underneath to get proper place to drill on drivers side.

So it slid over the cut off bolt?
