I'll start with this is one of my favorite light duty grinders and it owes me nothing. W8-115

While deburring some parts the other day it bogged down and started sparking the brushes pretty bad. Brushes are ~6months old and are free floating in the holders.

Is the motor just bad? How do I test the windings in the motor?

Pics because everyone loves pictures:

Sand the pads on the armature flat, sand brushes if they are thick enough, clean and reassemble.

Used to have a pile of those as well as Dewalts , half the time it was the switch, cutting concrete roofing tiles. Rarely the brushes.

My first Metabo lasted around 20 years, today I have 4. The Metabo is one tool that is used on almost every job I do, hands down one the most valuable tools in the shop and one of the most dangerous if not used correctly.

and the Dewalts use a lot of the same parts in different tools

sometimes you can get lucky if you don't have the exact tool to rob parts from
