Ain't it funny how the civil war was made to be about the federal government taking a stand against one very specific kind of slavery when in reality by forcibly resisting secession the federal government enslaved everyone under its influence?

It just fits so neatly into the trope of absolutely everything in the news being the direct opposite of reality.

That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.
Gee whiz I sure wonder what they meant by that.

I liked the Ken Burns documentary with Shelby Foote that came out early 90s. Talked about slavery because obviously that was a relevant issue of the times but not THE ONLY issue. Lincoln was quoted as saying he would send blacks back to Africa or end the war without freeing 1 slave if he could. All the modern documentaries frame it like the North was all noble and pure trying to free blacks which was all bullshit.
