MCI 102-C3 coach to RV - Chassis/Suspension

Wonder if 02rexwi made it over. Curious what AT model these came off of and where the complete units went.

After finally getting the govplanet pictures to load, it has Axletech all over it and looks a little different.

Can’t think of an Axletech that has anything like that.

I haven't seen any AT axle with a diff looking like that on anything. Kinda assumed it was a diff off a 5000 ISAS or something similar.

Glad to see you made it here, too.

I'm hoping to work out a trip to get some Oshkosh TAK-4's asap.

Sucks that this part of the build has been dead for a while. Haven't been able to find anything worth driving a great distance for.

These D shafts popped up in the yard down the road from me. Oshkosh stuff. Looks to fit TAK-4, but I'm not sure just yet. $51 total and I picked them up this morning. It's a start.

Opening up the AD-9. A lot of dirt blew into it while it was sitting outside, but there's some nasty scratches on the purge piston and cylinder. Going to replace the whole purge valve and dessicant canister.

I have to temporarily use this the dry my air compressor air so that I may paint some parts. The humidity has been unusually high here for about a month. Going to see if I can get the DOT PTC fittings for this while I'm at it.

The current milsurp driveline collection. Confirmed that these all go to the Oshkosh MK-48 HEMTT.

Haven't laid the out yet to see how much of the bus length that they'll stretch. Rough estimate is that this is enough to span between front and rear with a t-case in thee.

That's some beef. Picked this up in Abilene, KS. today. Couldn't pass this up for $125 and in an area that I pass by a lot.

From what I can tell, this is the same style case as the other Oshkosh transfer cases are that I've been eyeballing. Because of the white paint, I'm assuming it goes to the Oshkosh cement trucks. Grabbed this as something cheap for me to mess with until I get the chance to purchase the actual cases that I want. Either that or find the parts to bolt to this.

Edit. The stubby driveshaft I have is a match to the flange on the t-case. The case is 55000A. Score. I just want to figure out what attached to the tapered shaft.

Close, but no cigar. Got outbid on all four of the transfer cases.

These are the B version with the bevel gear center diff. I've been watching for another one for a couple years. Only ever saw them in CA until these.

Not sure viable an option this really is. To sole purpose of purchasing a cheap 55000 tc was to try swapping parts around.

I tried looking through the thread a few times to find all my gear ratios. At some point, I think I said I would need a 0.8:1 OD in the tc to bring the road speed back up when running either the AxleTech or Oshkosh ratio (5.64:1 or 6.0:1) Can't remember which.

Swapping the 53t and 32t gears will give me a 0.81:1 and retain the 0.98:1 for low. There's obviously no splines on the 53t for the dog clutch. Each gear will likely have different shaft splines, too. Something to tinker with once I get everything moved to Missouri.

Edit: Misread to tooth count. The 53 is actually 63. Swapping the 32 and 63 would give me a 0.686:1 OD. The swap will take some thinking and machining.

Today I saw that the Warrensburg fire department has a Pierce Arrow with the TAK-4 axles. If I can remember, I'm going stop by to ask if I can check it out. I'm curious if the fire trucks run a different overall ratio.

Please remember to look at it ace take pictures. I’m very interested in this

I'll call them up to ask and give them a heads up. I think the truck was from station 1.

Cost-wise, I'm certain an Oshkosh 7-ton is far easier to get ahold of. The staff at Peirce are cool to talk with and might give some insight on acquiring parts.

Picked up an Oshkosh TAK-4 hub last week. Despite being left open in the weather and getting full of water, everything still turns. I'll get to play around with it in a few weeks.

OE air bags

Front bags:
12K-1-45
1R12-288

Drive bags:
12K-1-45
1R12-288

Tag bags:
12M-4-6 or 12L-4-5
1R10-091

Been trying to air up the drive bags. A couple are leaking and they all were missing a portion of the part number. They're Goodyear 1R12-288's.
