I am a little confused as to what I need to do to replace my Mc05 with the new Mc08. Do I need to install the new coupler if the old is in good shape? Other than the coupler is this an unbolt and bolt in the new adapter situation.
Thanks in advance.

I assume its a 23 spline coupler you are referencing? 22re/r150 or 151/gear drive duals?

Its inherently the same adapter. I think my old one was a MC07 in my pre Atlas days.

I would put in the new coupler since the newer MC stuff is 4340 cro-mo. Fresh start on the adapter and coupler.

I went ahead and replaced the old parts for new, it was really very easy. I did discover one thing, when changing from a MC05 to a MC08 you will have to source a 1/4" ball bearing to be used with the spacer and coupler which the MC05 did not use.

I figured I would post a picture of the differences in case anyone else did this swap. The MC08 is on the top. MC05 on the bottom.
