Austin... TX? Nope. Minnesota!
Yup. I am busy as hell, but I set a goal of having Nightlight's FJ62 ready by the Rose Creek car show next month. This gives me just over 3 weeks to get it done.

A list of its needs off the top of my head (I'll add more as I remember or come across issues):

Transmission slips to the point of immobility in high range when warmed up
U-Joints shot
Repair front axle (birfs leaking)
Brakes need attention
Fuel pump quit
Tires are 20+ years old
Paint needs buffing
All fluids need replacing
Interior cleaning
Dome light lenses/fixtures need attention.
Replace cargo area carpeting
Get jerry cans for rack
Install winch and wiring
A/C dead
ARB fittings leaking air
Title/registration

I already have U-Joints (I think). I have ordered a transmission screen to see if that will work, but have a used transmission ready to install if needed. I can clean up and rebuild the birfs whenever (not needed before the show, but will do it if I have time). I have brake components and a fuel pump sitting on the shelf, ready to go in. Tires? That will be fun. I will have to bite the bullet and use a shop in town instead of Discount Tire because I can't drive it 45 minutes to my preferred source. I hate buffing, but I can do that one evening (or two) once its running again. I actually have all the fluids I need on hand (antifreeze, brake fluid, oil/filter, transmission, axles). Cleaning the interior should only take about 30 minutes or so to knock all the cobwebs out. Possibly find a mouse nest along the way. I ordered a rear cargo rubber floor from Cruiser Corps, along with the rear cargo light assembly and dome light lens. I also ordered Jerry Cans off the internet last night that should be here in time. I have had a HF 12,000 lb winch sitting NIB in the corner of my shed that will lend nicely for the front bumper, provided it fits and I van modify everything to work together (I also have the winch mounting tray to cut up and weld in if necessary). ARB fittings will be easy. Title/registration? I need to beat up my friend to send them (if he hasn't) or dig through my shit again to see where I stick it (if he did). If I lost it, I'll have him order a new one and send it out. If he hasn't sent it, I'll light a fire under him to get it here.

That leaves the A/C. Anyone have a good source for adapters to hook an LPG tank up to the R12 service port for filling? Not looking to do a 134 conversion, I want that to look factory.

I have 23 days to complete all of this while working full-time, watching my son while my wife is at work, mowing my lawn and the neighbor's abandoned lawn, picking up a zero-turn to help that out, and I have to install a hitch/wiring on the XC90, put my car in the shop to re-look at the A/C they "fixed" last year that already died (I didn't feel like messing with A/C on a hybrid), make a mandatory charity run with the ALR next Saturday, ALR meeting the following day, too, and I promised my boy I'd take him fishing again.

whew

Gonna be a busy 3 weeks. I hope I can get it all done in time.

Ordered u-joints online before leaving work today. I looked through my history and never pulled the trigger in the past.

Found a CGA600 to R12 adapter on fleabay, it should be here soon so I can charge the A/C with a bbq tank. :flipoff2:

I also checked out tires and wheel (no spare) and found that Summit is about the only place selling the right AR62 wheel for the Cruiser... I need to measure this weekend to see if its the same width and offset they have in stock and order it so I won't need to get 5 new wheels. Also probably going to get a set of Cooper STT PRO tires in 33 inch flavor, because they are $100 less than the BFGs.

Fuel pump, done.:smokin:

Damn, that tank is a bitch for one person. Already falling behind schedule, wife has to work this afternoon, so I'm on kid duty. Tonight I can start on the u joints and transmission screen.

Some pics should raise interest, now that it is no longer squeezed in the middle of my vehicle graveyard row...

are you ready to show it off tomorrow?
Unfortunately no. I still have to finish changing u-joints and mounting tires. Aside from that, the biggest issue is the title isn't going to be here until Monday.

I do have it running and driving, however, and my detail guy cut and buffed the paint. I put a good cargo mat in the rear and found the same style spare wheel to mount a tire to, along with some OD Green fuel cans for the rack. Aside from that, everything is fully serviced and ready to go. If the paperwork were here, I'd take the afternoon off work to haul it down to the tire shop and have them mount them while I went to the title office and got plates for it, but without that little piece of paper, I cannot go to the show tomorrow.

Bummer.

But it will definitely be ready for the biggest show in the area in August, The River Rats Car Club Annual Show on the third weekend in August. Might have to bring home a class trophy from that one, but I need to make my way to Ohio to snag the matching 4x4 Labs roof rack first.

Is there a thread or a good reference on the steps of recharging R12 with propane? Asking for a friend.

Not propane but computer duster. Did it on my runner and it works great:

I used a duster can on my 80 series. Works great and it’s cheap. From the YouTube videos I’ve seen propane works way better but if something goes wrong it will go much worse 😂

I was just gonna vacuum it, add an oil charge, then push in just enough LPG to drop the vent temp by 40* from ambient. No need to shoot the moon right out of the gate, and I could always add or remove a little later on.
