Working on a BW 1356 in a 94 F250. I'm replacing the ZF manual trans because it lost all its fluid and welded itself together. Well, I figured out where all the fluid went. For whatever reason the rear output seal in the trans was pushed out, and all the fluid made it's way into the T-case through these corrosion holes (for lack of a better term).
I'm not sure what ate this case up. The cavity was dry, the gasket between the trans and T-case was good, and no external leaks anywhere.
My question is, short of replacing the case half, is there any product I can use to seal this thing back up? JB weld? RTV? Some specific kind of epoxy?
I'm assuming this thing somehow got water in the cavity and that's what ate it up. The trans looks fine except for some very light corrosion. Weird.
