Any body up this way? Here for the next few days for work. Seems to be a small town that shuts down early, but figured I would check if anyone is around and down for a drink.

Well I'm not :flipoff2: but that's one of my favorite places to go, almost every year...

Some of these might be better suited as exploratory, i.e. go back in mid-late September with the woman, but I've told ya that for a while...

South of Lincoln, in North Woodstock...the Woodstock Inn brewery is good, definitely do that. South of there on the same road the ice cream place is fucking fantastic, and on the left is a bar on the bottom floor of an old building (it's changed names since I was there), but that bar kicks ass with good food and they had a great karaoke thing going last I was there. Behind that bar is a river and you can park down by it in a lot off to the side. That spot is a great natural little waterfall you can take any kind of tube down and it's often packed with people just hanging out. Load up a cooler, blow up a few tubes, and run some lines down the falls. Easy walk back up each time.

Little more south look for the Reliant Robin 3-wheel car in the parking lot, that's the Kancamagus museum, or something like that, it has weird hours on a good day (not sure what it is now) but you can at least see some cool shit in the parking lot.

Clarks Trading Post is cool, probably not just on your own, but the bear show is awesome and everything else could be really cheesy but it's worth doing everything if you're there for the day. Cool old railroad and a bumper boat pond to get your girl's shirt wet.

Got the jeep or the d? Either way, go run that shit up Mount Washington. Get the damn sticker and have some fun on the dirt part. It's a great drive and fantastic view regardless.

Go to Flume Gorge. Do that on your own even. It's just a bit north, but one of the coolest things I've ever walked through. Well worth the time. Do this.

Loon Mountain, or over by Lost RIver, there are a shitload of cool boulder trails to do, where you have to climb/crawl through big rock placements to make it through. There is one at Lost River that closed in 2012 that I'm still determined to get through, it basically goes straight up the mountain with no turnaround. I made it 3/4 the way before we had to quit due to weather.

Tons of natural waterslides, one in the park just across from Loon Mtn in particular, that are worth the hike. Just make sure to swim out of the waterfall swirl immediately 🤣

Depending on which way you came in, and where you have to go - take Rt 112 (Kancamagus) west to Vermont on your way home, that's a great drive. Anywhere on 112 is a great drive but it's worth a little extra if you get to drive on it more.

I always stay at Lost River Campground, to give some reference - though I've stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Lincoln as well, when I had limited time. The mini golf course by there is fun as well, and the action/rope course worth doing too.

So if you haven't noticed, let's plan some shit up that way sometime :flipoff2:

Grendel is in southern NH. I'm in north central MA. Posford is in Eastern NH. I think Woods is up there somewhere too. All of us are kind of far away if you just want to pound beers on a work night but I don't think any of us are out of your way on the way home (which is mostly just a reflection of how shit the best route from NH to NYC is )

Pretty much all of NH's recreation is outdoors stuff, hiking and whatnot. Personally I'd go to Walmart, pick up a $20 spinning rod, some high dollar 6lb line and a pack of the red and white spoons and then just stop and fish at random ponds. Whether or not you spend the $$ (IIRC it's like $50) on an out of state fishing license (tons of places sell them) is up to you.

Also, you could go see this https://www.practicalmachinist.com/v...-lathe-254372/ which is about an hour and change drive from you.

Woodstock inn x3 Wife and I did the New England beer fest up there 6 six years ago. Gordi's steak and fish house is good also. Ride to the top of Loon mountain for good views, or drive out Kancamangus.
I'm in north western MA, so it's a bit of a haul for a work night.

I was just up that way last weekend. Got the bill for motel room repairs yesterday. What they ^ said, Woodstock Inn. But that's basically the only game in town anyway.

Come back in two weeks. A bunch of us will be at Mountain Mud Run in nearby Warren slugging 'shine and watching the bouncers do dumb shit.

Wife and i rented a bnb log home last fall outside Lincoln. Did the Auto Road for second time, Mrs didnt care for heights.

Drive the Kanc at sunrise if your looking for Moose, later in the day it gets heavy use from the tourists.

I thought Gordi's steakhouse sucked.. food was decent but we were rushed through every bit of our meal on our anniversary.

I enjoyed KC's BBQ in Manchester on the way up that way.

Chris seems to know the area well..

What's the dates on that, Eric?

I quit facespace.

Aug 29-30. Event is called Shock the Rocks.

EDIT: 30 minutes ago John and Brenda announced that the event is cancelled. Apparently the dumb-ass governor has imposed a mask mandate on gatherings larger than 100.

Pretty sure they just canceled it.

"Due to newly enacted and immediate mandates from the Governor we are cancelling this event but stay tuned there will some smaller events to come to round out the year and we will be back Bigger and better than ever in 2021"

Not sure if he made the site transition but CJ5.5 is in that neighborhood too. Its a nice area, about 2 hours for me. I like the drive down 93 through Franconia.

Care to expand on how badly you trashed the room? :flipoff2:

Cool Cool. I am at the Holiday inn right by the railroad. Guys at the plant already mentioned Woodstock Inn, gonna hit that up tonight. Def seems like a bunch of stuff to do. I have the Jeep, might have to go do Mt Washington.

From the looks of it I will prob be up this way for work again.

I will google some of the stuff mentioned.

If you want to use the Jeep, NH has class 4 roads you can look up and drive, also Jericho Mountain State Park in Berlin (maybe 1.5-2 hour drive?) has a 4x4 trail. The green trail is kind of overly easy, but the blue trail is good, but you'd want a winch if going by yourself if its a DD.

Thanks, but pretty sure I would rather take the BMW off road than my Grand Cherocar. Still owe to much on it to mess it up ha ha .

If you are into hiking and have a full day available then I highly recommend the Franconia Ridge Trail. The trail head is just a few minutes North of Lincoln off I-93.

There is no way I would take a stock Grand Cherokee on any class 6 roads or the 4x4 trails at Jericho Mountain.

I have some family there.

I always thought the logging history in that area was pretty cool. There's a few old locomotives in the area. Some of the buildings in town are old mill buildings and the older houses were company houses.

x2 on visit Mt.Washington and the Flume. Indian head trail is a good hike close to town.

There's a spot in town to go swimming. Park by the substation behind the strip mall and walk down to the river.

Chris nailed it.

Woodstock inn is a great place for food and beer.

Fivepointfive is sort of nearby.

Just caught this. Yeah I live a couple miles downstream. Yep Woodstock Inn. One Love Brewery is good too.

Shoot me a PM. I can give you some local stuff. Drives, hikes, views, stuff. There is a killer drinking.. I mean swimming hole at an old mill site not 5 minutes up the road that is totally worth scoping out.

*Class VI. Nothing right in town, but I can get you to some cool roads for a stocker. And Mt. Washington is cool.

Was going to hit you up. How you been? Definitely missed Midcoast this year.

Oh and for the record, Lincoln is not NH. Apart from some really good local folk, it is a weird little tourist town for people not from here run by people who moved here from away, usually to escape drugs.

Jefferson Notch Rd and Clinton Mountain (or is it Mount Clinton?) Rd are nice little rides. I just back from Sandwich Notch road about 2h ago.

Bear Notch Rd is a nice drive north. 113 or Evans Notch is probably one of my favorite roads to travel on .

Couldn't speak in regards to touristy stuff. I don't do bars and I hate people. :flipoff2:

edit: yea, if you haven't done Washington Auto Road, I'd hit it up. Its a neat ride. I take the bike up once a year.

Yeah I assumed we were talking about a JK or something. My Bad. I think a Grand could do the green trail, but its hardly worth the drive for somebody that isnt new to the sport. I did the Blue/black stuff with M4x4 recently and getting into split rock is interesting now...

Yeah, I think I got Vermont and NH mixed up. I did a bunch of both last year. Allegedly.

Been good, Midcoast was just a one day ride because #thankscovid, so you didn't miss a ton. No Bronco fires, no rollovers, no Vehicles rolling off the top of mountain dragging a senior along with it. Have a bunch of GoPro stuff I need to post.

Yeah Jon told me that was going to be the case, hence my not showing up in Dave's yard with a tent asking where tf everybody is. Glad I didn't miss much excitement, just you Mainahs.

Probably not. He usually carries an axe and lives/lived on the other end. If I think of it Ill write it up tomorrow. Fucking phone doesn't even recognize the word axe. Anybody start up the scary people thread?

Wound up not doing much, Did the Woodstock Inn, and would do it again! I will be up that way again, prob a few times. I will try to give better notice and plan some stuff next round. Esp if anyone needs stuff brought up
