My limo probably did better then your jeeps:flipoff2:

For those who have never heard of it the gambler 500 is off-road rally, 500 miles in a 500$ car.

This thing was surprisingly agile, but the side of the body did take a beating, and the door gap on the driver door is for some reason now a over lap lol.
It's a 97 lincoln town car with a 4.6. It has a eBay lift kit. The description said "between 3-7" of lift" the install instructions said if the control arms hit start cutting... Has 1.5" wheel spacers and some all terrains, snorkel, and a tube bumper. Everything needed to make your limo rally ready

*Edit. I'll post the rest of the pictures later my phone's not liking this

Always wanted to do this. There is a local Kansas group that is/was organized by one of the guys working for Todd at Trail Worthy Fab.

I could never find a $500 shit box worth running, but then again, I hear all the good deals have moved to the facespace meat market and I don't MySpace so...

Where did you find that fine automobile?

Gambling is fun but can be wild. I have ran my samurai in a few of them. It's all fun and games until you have to recover some idiot drives a bone stock zj onto its side 6 feet down an embankment off of a straight flat road. Bunch of people out offroading with no experience in cars that really shouldn't be out there in the first place, and we couldn't just leave the guy

Other than that one time, It's a blast :smokin:

They always host these in April. But the Corona pushed it back

You can drive a more expensive one in the cheater class or recovery.

Found it on FB 600 or 500 without cats. So cats got cut off before we got it

Looks like it was a good time. We made the inaugural last year in the Rally Miata and ran the mini-bike race at The FIRM, but got sidelined by a drivetrain swap and didn't get the Gambler done in time for this year. Hoping we get some traction and get a HooptieX in Florida, or reasonably close.

I like the idea, but that $500 thing is complete bullshit. I have seen a quite a few people post vehicles for this sort of thing that are worth a lot more. Hell, you can't even buy a new set of wheels and tires for $500 these days, unless you are getting them for a Fiesta.

I have 3 4x4 vehicles in my yard right now that you can take your pick of any one of them for $500. All 3 ran when parked. Any of them would be perfect for a gambler rig.

I've used my stock drivetrain 1962 Scout in a bunch of them here in SoCal. In my opinion that was way more of a gamble than taking a subaru and chopping the top off and calling it a beater. Real gamblers don't have AC, power steering or boosted brakes. :flipoff2: The thing needs low range just to get up some of the hills, LOL.

They are lots of fun but if you're used to trailriding and camping it's not as big of a deal than if you're totally new to the experience.

It's more of a guideline to promote shitboxes. The guys rolling through the hills of east TN in a 98 Caravan with mud tires on the front and all the doors removed probably spent more than that on their cooler and beer stock, but WGAF

it's great.

I can't believe you didn't break it in half after seeing some limo frame streches.
shit's sketchy.

I doubt anyone is going to buy a new set of interco tires to throw on their 500$ civic lol. A set of dryrotted a/t tires in your back yard will work just fine.
There was a couple fiestas lol. majority of the cars were 4 or small 5 lug cars with atv tires. the only real rule is dont be a dick. no on actually checks the car value, but the cheaper its is the more fun.

I raced the minibike in at the marion county speed way last few months back. no dates yet but theres another one coming in the fall.

So over 3 day 251 teams pulled 12 tons of trash and 5 abandoned boats out of the Ocala national forest during this event.

and that's really what makes it great.

guy in the escort is a legend. There's no greater fun than cars off road.

Why can't there be anything like this around here.

Hm. Ok, so this is really a trail cleanup event then. I thought this was like the LEMONS race or something. I was expecting jumps, mud bogs, and rocks.

Its both, they encourage cleaning up the trails. but there's checkpoints for the rally and there are winners

Maybe I'll show up on the motorcycle then. More as a spectator if that's a thing.

Lol looks like fun. I’ll have to see if there is one in my area. This is the exact reason I drive sub 3k vehicles at work. That way I can do all the gambling in the pits we work in everyday lol

that limo would be a blast to drive!
