Inherited a family couch that’s still in good shape, been “storage” for 5-6 years.

I soaked it and the arm chair in Meguairs auto leather conditioner. The leather is very dry and I don’t want it cracking on me. The couch is about 25-26 years old.

Is there a really good product out there that I don’t know about?

I did 90% of the couch but you can see the difference on the last cushion

my family has a furniture store. when in worked there 20yrs ago, and still now we always used these products. and I still use them for all my leather furniture, car seats etc. helps stops cracking and hold damaged leather together

20years ago you couldn't buy it on Amazon. we sold leather warranties, people paid a bunch of money and all we did was one treatment. and sent them with a small bottle.

I have some stuff called leather honey. I like it. Probably work well on that couch.

On new raw leather I just use olive oil. Not sure I'd use it on a couch though

You should probably scrub it with cleaner first.

Is it real?

Is it sealed?
Semi analine
Analine?

Meguires along with anything sold at autozone is trash and will do more harm than good.

Letherique, Connollys if it’s real unsealed analine leather.

Sealed your out of luck.

Semi analine it’s kinda up in the air.

Those are questions above my pay grade, off to googles but it’s not faux leather. Meguires is a 3M product so I hope it’s not THAT bad

I have some of that. I think it's just ok. Good marketing though.

Yes it’s basically like armorall now. Chemical destruction to leather IMO

Analine is soft natural and has inconsistencies in the finish. Think dyed. Treat like a cow. Correct Moisturizers work wonders. You can do work to restore the dye.

Semi-analine is more slick than soft and a more consistent finish. Think painted. Higher end cars have this. It has a thin layer of clear coat on it sometimes. May show slight grain. Treat like a person. Mild Soap and water, light damp rag rinse, treat with conditioner as above if it has grain and with coating if it doesn’t. Restorations usually a painted on product.

Pigmented leather is harder thicker less pliable. It has basically a thick coat of paint on it and doesn’t show much grain. Most every car with leather have this.
Soap and water, damp rag rinse. Coat with a ceramic coating. Restoration is like spray paint if it’s not too bad.

There are other types but 99.9 fall into one of those 3.

Definitely your first example. None of the pieces seem to match.
