Knuckle centering tool

Can anyone that may have used the Toyota SST to center your knuckles share the numbers they got? I am following the FSM. I must be and idiot because by my calculations I need Negative shims

It seems that the D dimension should be larger than the 3mm, otherwise you end up with a negative thickness shim.

Are any shims rusted to the knuckle?

I never used the tool but just eyeballed it as a disclaimer.

I pulled all the shims and cleaned the knuckle really well.

I Did mine, don't recall the details.
I did have 1 that did not work out mathwise.
I swapped in a spare and it was fine.

Same. I've done the fish scale pull for pre-load before a few times. After breaking shit enough I just slap it back together again and have for years. However I haven't had a roadworthy rig in a long time either.

I can not believe how much that tool costs now. I've used mine once, did all the math and it ended up being the shims that came with the used knuckles I bought.

Eye ball it and use a fish scale. Go up on the pre load for larger tires.
