Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam told The Associated Press that Renner was using the 7-ton snow plow to tow a car that had become stuck on the private driveway he shares with neighbors.

"After successfully towing his personal vehicle from its stuck location, Mr. Renner got out of his (snowcat) to speak to his family member," Balaam said. "The Pistenbully started to roll. In an effort to stop (it), Mr. Renner attempts to climb back into the driver's seat. It's at this point that Mr. Renner is run over."

Not saying he wasn't but your story is an interesting example on the perceptions we build of people (both good and bad).
For one snap shot in time, you walked away with a negative experience about him. Maybe he was just having a totally shitty day? Who knows.

Reminds me of someone that went to a MotoGP race and turned into a huge hater after the racer ignored him and kept walking when he asked for an autograph. Maybe he was gonna shit his pants? Maybe he is a dick like that all the time? Who knows :cool2:

If I were Avengers main character rich sitting in my fancy house in the sierras in the middle of a huge snow storm, I would definitely be drunk by the time I decided to break out the 7 ton snow cat and drag cars around for fun.

Also I'm pretty sure the only way to get in one of those while its rolling is up and over the moving tracks. That's some Most Extreme Elimination Challenge shit right there.

G5 Skidoo probably about 550-600 wet weight. I'd imagine it was the turbo which is a little heavier.

The lightest mountain sleds are 420 ish dry. Add 85-90 lbs for gas, coolant, and oil. Skidoo isn't nearly 420 dry either, they're more like 480. Fat kids of the mountain world.
I've even seen guys weigh them on trail and they can have over 100 lbs of snow stuffed in the skid on top of that. Big selling point of the alpha.



Either way, I've been stuck under my sled more than once. All you can do is try and clear snow to breathe and wait on your buddies. Best case it's soft enough you can clear a hole under the sled, worst case you eat the bars and go down unconscious.

Not shitting his pants
he sat there as his back was turned to kid car in the pits
hands in his pockets
pouting like a toddler that couldn't have some candy

all the while two little kids who sat there for fucking forever where there politely asking him for that autograph
I watched it
these kids were doing everything right

he just refused it and told them that he was 'busy'

and continues standing there


next year it was the same attitude at a different spot in town, to different people
no, not a mass of people around him


this is what I watched with my own two eyes
I was there
I could hear and see everything that was being said


I walked away not impressed
and I walked away not impressed a few years in a row of this action

I tried make every excuse up like you just did, but it wasn't the case

Saving grace.
right after that action, and all the disappointment from that kids at hit home, Pastrana hit the pits
and THAT guy....who had no time for that stage
and was telling everyone that this was the only chance to get something to eat for the say (and saying sorry for it)
that guy still managed to sign every single autograph that was there
every one of them




but loosing a father fucks, and a feel for the kids, I hope they keep on and take things to the next level

Huh. Not sure why either Block's family nor a pro football player's family needs a go fund me. "The average american' must be a lot weirder than I thought if that guy's raised 6 million. This is why I avoid shopping malls.

The go fund me was a fund raiser for a local charity i think? and it was the pro football dudes, just seems like an odd way to raise money if your famous.

and before he got hurt it had nearly no money, so no one gave a shit.

suddenly he's hurt and everyone jumps on the bandwagon.

Pastrana knows his brand, and it relies on the fan base. He also has said more than once that the more serious he gets about racing the worse he does. So he's very in the moment and not worried about 5 minutes later.

Block was a racer first and foremost. Can't fault the guy for being serious about his racing and separating the fans and race. He did plenty of autographs at signing events. If he needed to get his head in the right space in the pits that's understandable.


Lots of racers do the same. Autograph sessions are a set time and it's all business otherwise. Most of them are mental nutjobs.

and I know that this is a Ken Block fan boi thread, so I will drop it

looking back, that is the stage where the tables tipped and Travis started a roll that ended up winning his first rally championship

(and I don't like a sore looser)

That very well could have been everything to do with his mood. The best work hard, and it pisses them off when someone with stupid natural ability has to do 10% of the work to get the same or better results.


I was never a Block fan. Just pointing out the other side of things as lots of racers over the years have commented on the same. They were perceived as complete assholes, when really they just didn't want anything to do with the publicity. They were there to race and that was their 100% focus. Fans were just an annoyance until the pressure was lifted. They would be a completely different person the day after the race.

Not too mention it's very much a personally competitive sport and not much team focus other than they do what they're paid to do. It attracts a lot of introverts that just really don't want to talk to anyone, ever.

I understand this. In my little bit of racing, I didn't want to talk to ANYONE. Just leave me in my "zone"
Friends and family called me a dick because I was standoff-ish but really I was just keeping my mind right
