Keeping a gun safe bolted in the garage

There's always a way. The point is to make it enough of a PITA it's not worth it.

Throw some sort of "wifi smart home" actuator" on your spare welding CO2 tank ( and when you see the thieves go in the door on your wifi camera dump the tank. Can't steal shit without oxygen. You'll have to look for one that can swing a valve more than 90deg but they're out there.

Should work good for blue thieves and fire too.

or keep all your reloading powder in the safe

I'm actually looking into getting that AMSec safe. Those things are dope and graffunder won't return my calls.

Fuck AMSec. After we flooded I tried to buy a new interior for mine and they refused to help at all. 2800 safe and their customer service sucked ass. Cannon on the other hand went way above and beyond for anyone who owned one of their safes, even if they bought it used.

OP, I'd put some rubber down under it to keep the bottom from rusting out.

Didn't work since the thief cut just enough to get to the locking mechanism. If you get a safe, get one with a re-locking system.

Dam, Good to know before I drop $20k on a safe.

iirc you had loaded ammo, not loose powder in plastic jugs

There was black powder keg in there that I completely forgot about. I found it about a month afterwards cleaning under the giant table pictured next to the safe. The dude cut the front/hinges and took a sledge hammer to the concrete enough to get to the dial latch, broke that and he was in. A Re-locker would have made him cut the interior open.

And the torches right beside it. Wouldn't want them to use the wrong tool.

Speaking of torches maybe hook the wifi valves to the oxy-acetylene cylinders instead. You could even set the mix to be just right when you shut it off. I betcha if you have a big enough garage door it and the windows will be the only casualties.

huh, interesting
a cheap shitty stack-on safe would fix the insulating layer of concrete

you don't understand FAEs
play with some balloons some time
the vdet is nothing like lazy hollywood explosions when it is trending from stoich toward oxidizing

I'm well aware you can get a good bang. We used to do oxy-propane bags in highschool.

I don't think you'd get good mixture with a torch set just sitting there pissing out and only a fraction of the building is going to be full.

:flipoff2:

According to the 5-Oh, thieves don’t bring many tools to break into a safe, it’s what they find laying around that they use while they are in. I want to see a video, but I think that most commercial available safes could be opened with a circular steel cutting saw in a matter of minutes.

OP. Do you have a locking garage door opener, or does it just rely on a cheap garage door opener to hold it shut?

what are you storing?

Nothing. :flipoff2:

A buddy of mine is a locksmith and we’ve been pricing different safes since the break-in. I want a TRTLX6-30 (or more) safe.

Regardless of fires or burglary or any dam thing else, nobody is ever getting into my safe ever again. I just went to a bachelor party where I borrowed a shotgun since my coach gun is with the feds… How much is it worth for priceless family heirlooms, or how much would you pay to never have to deal with the popo and the waiting game to fine and recover guns. You decide.

well certainly not 20 fucking grand :flipoff2:

That’s up to you bud.

A safe screams cool mystery shit inside. A grimey old waste oil tank that hinges open probably doesn't get a second look. Well maybe at your fancy house it might.
Honestly not a bad idea, in my area that’s just a hoemade bbq. Or set another furnace next to your other one and hollow it out.

I think if you store a safe where the wife parks her car, it’s okay. Don’t put it in a fab shop.

They also sell a fake cover for your safe

Wifi activated ma duece and excavator to disappear them.

Stash your shit everywhere but in one centralized location and booby trap a shiny, happy safe to distract. It would be a damned shame to see some scumbag(s) get an early retirement trying to steal nothing.

If the thieves have time they will be able to get into just about any "safe".
Bad zuki sucks you were robbed. I'm thinking about adding a motion camera that alerts me any time someone or something is in my gun room.
My "safe" would be just about impossible to get out as there is no room around it you can only get to the door. It was very difficult for the professional safe mover to get it in there when empty. Even then if someone intelligent wanted in and had time they could definitely get into it.
I've seen old vending machines turned into safes which seem pretty cool and wouldn't attract the same attention as a unsafe. My brother just built a house and had a walk in closet built as a "gunroom". It's on the house slab and has double sheetrock for a bit of fire protection and some other reinforcement to the walls and a commercial steel door, but doesn't scream vault door. Where he lived before he just had his 2 safes out in the garage. Never had any problems other than humidity. (Houston)

good idea
locate it next to your torch set

This is why I didn't bother.

I have a sheetrock lined cabinet that's a false back inside another cabinet. Followed up by a camera, with on-site and remote backup.

And lastly, an insurance policy that covers anything and everything firearms related. I have more money in optics and ammo than the guns themselves.

Always always bolt them down and use oversized washers ! source a safe to match the value of the contents , don't put $ 40 K worth of crap in a $500 safe and you don't need a $ 20 K safe for 5 K worth of crap . when you can have them hidden or covered , when you can bolt them in a corner or box them in it gives them more work to get in . a barking dog is a big deterrent . a cheap decoy safe that they can pick up will distract them ( shit in a zip lock ) and place inside .first. i have 14 safes at my house and only 2 have anything in them , let them figure out witch one to work on . bottom line is anything and everything you can do will slow them down or give them reason to look else where works .

A depository in La. just got hit for $ 30 million and as far as i know got away and never tripped the alarms . if the right person knows and really wants what you have they are going to get it .

you need a psych :flipoff2:
My sig ! i move and repair and sell them , i end up with most of them for free and have a constant turn over ( i know a big time coin guy ) that is pimping them for me to his coin buddies . i have a few over 120 years old that are just to cool to get ride of . but ya i have a problem :smokin:

The bigger of the two I showed is 4K lbs not bolted down, and was used as a remote bank vault for Wells Fargo (Hamilton brand) in a grocery store branch, it is converted to guns.

The door alone weighs about #1200lbs

most of even the cheapest safes have at least one re-locker ,what kind of safe did you have ?

New house is getting a "strong room". It's really just a 4x8 closet off the walk in master closet. It will have a commercial steel door and frame, and 3/4" plywood under the sheetrock. The safe will be in there along with some shelving. It's another layer to slow down a thief long enough for me or a neighbor to get there.

Does blood stain laminate flooring? I know they are resistant to liquid and scratching, but what about 8-10 pints of blood?

Your looking at way more $$$$ than $ 20 k for the safe you are describing new , and can i ask what safe would be in the category ( or more ) than a TRTLX6-30 ?
my best safe is a Allied / Carry 72X36X34 TL-30 at 5,0140 # i am quite confident it will be there when i come home at night with the contents intact .
$ 1000.00 from a Cannabis:smokin: place in Garden Grove that shut down .
