Junkyard guys 2013 ram Electro power steering?

Yeah, me too! Went from a $250 part to a $2500 part! Just nuts.

You could not drive it when it failed. Fortunately mine was failing at boot up so it was either go/no go. I was worried it might konk out on me at speed one day as I had read that happening to others.

I wonder what fraction of an MPG they saved with that one?:clown:

Its not just MPGs either though. There is a whole lot of lane control, nanny state stuff that is easier to do if the steering is electric and not hydraulic.
I think that's some of it.
My wife was sad when she found out her new car didn't have the parallel park assist.
Can't have it with the hydraulic steering.
But gets hydraulic steering.

Seems like a smart enterprising type person would design and improved circuit board...
Guess the enterprising types are the ones selling rebuilt ones. ;) Hopefully they fixed it in later models. Looks like 1.1 million Rams were recalled for this. 2013-16 models. Thats a lot of RACKS!

Yeah, I wish I had had time and an extra vehicle (on the road) to take it apart and figure out what was wrong. Some folks had reportedly fixed cold solder joints. But if it had gotten to the circuit level I would have been lost.

Same, I can fix blown fuse, bad solder on a big wire or something but these micro components can't do shit with
