Can someone direct me to a good cache of newb CJ info for a new CJ Owner whos well versed with ford junk and wheeling/parts in general?
IVe been able to find a few basic info articles, But i guess im searching for the equivalent of the billavista tech for cj's.

Any links would be greatly appreciated.

Jeepforum.com has tons of info in their CJ forum. JF is good for a lot of the noob and basic information generally speaking.

Thank you, Ill check em out

nothing specific just what came in what, common "fixes" "hacks" economical upgrades etc etc

Another good board for Jeep CJ only specific: Jeep-CJ.com

https://jeep-cj.com/community/

The above link will take you to a Jeep CJ only based board. It is not owned by vertical scope and is in the process of a major upgrade so some links are still being fixed but if you have any year CJ from a mutt or prototype all the way to the last year 1986 CJ, there is stuff posted over there about it.

Also there's Jeepz.com https://www.jeepz.com

They have a CJ only section as well. These sites I give you have no relation to vertical scope and although the one previously mentioned site by another user was probably the largest of them all, there's a reason this site right here started, because you know monetization of every square inch that VS does drives the average seeker away from anything VS touches.

Thank you guys, Def going to check these out, it sucks what VS has done to the forum platform as a whole. Sucked seeing the decline of FSB, and all the diesel forums in the last few years.

i have an 84 cj thats a recent hand-medown as my fathers health declining fast. PO put alot of work into it, but it was bought at a used car lot maybe 6-7 years ago.

Appears to have arbs, but someone swiped the compressor and cut blue lines in engine bay. Has a mystery winch, 1 pc rear axles, jfi fuel injection half hacked install on the 4.2, clifford header, Found jasper reman engine paperwork in console, but engine has like 5 psi of oil pressure at hot idle using 15w-40. Has a mystery spring under lift, I think it has a t18 swapped in, twinsticked dana 300, rear disc brakes, ugly rusted fake beadlocks and procomp 33's. None of the heat controls really do anything. I want to keep it old school leaf sprung and ride family with me occasionally.

I guess my first task will be to unfuck the wiring and try to get heat and radio working, replace missing bell housing bolts, and try to get arb's working.

Many of the late model CJ's are loaded with Ford parts in them so you're off to a good start.
Some Ford supplied parts used in later AMC Jeeps:
Generator & voltage regulator.
Transmission & clutch.
Carburetor.
Emissions parts.

Mine has lots of Ford parts in it after the 5th engine conversion over the years.

Ford ZF s5-42 1-ton 5-speed transmission & clutch assembly from an F-350.
Ford Sterling 8.8 rear axle & disc brakes out of a 2001 4dr Explorer, (narrowed for 2 passenger side axle shafts & re-drilled to 5x5.5 lug pattern).

Those are the major parts that came from FoMoCo, others from GM and Cummins FWIW.

GM Dana 44 front K20 camper special axle, (narrowed 9" to fit).
GM tilt steering column factory Jeep.
GM Alternator/regulator and misc. electrical connectors.

Cummins 4BT engine from a bread/potato chip delivery van.

American Motors, parts from all the various American companies rolled into one = AMC Jeep.

(Reminds me of the song from the late man in black: "Got it one piece at a time......"
Also: "We can drive it home with one headlight....."
