Seem there are a few of these threads here so Ill make one too :flipoff2:

Well I have been looking for some land and cabin for awhile... Finally found something priced well. 8.5 ac, half is real wet. Backs to railroad and creek.

Its a tree house, kinda, legs at the back, supported by tress at the front. Framing is done, some insulation is in, a bathroom is started and its a big project! I am stoked. No power, no water. Should be fun.

Now the day we take possession, we go out and someone broke in.... They stole the woodstove, broken a glass table and took all the can lights, ceiling fans etc that were inside. Fucking thieves..... This was friday night, I had to be 4 hours south Saturday morning, so we rallied back up Sunday top try to secure the place.

So I need to get the roof patched, the roof on the bathroom, and find a new stove....

First order of business. Secure the damn thing. (I boarded everything up Sat AM. They stole the keys for the snowmobile, and I thought they may come back) Stopped by tractor supply (which is terrible for the wallet) and got a gate, a fuck ton of chain some locks etc...

Gate done. Forgot my level so its crooked, I mean self opening. :lmao:

Ghetto rigged up the old batteries out of the RV, and stole the camera/flood light off the house.

Camera and light, check. I am almost proud of that shit too.

Step 2, shitter. It needed power, so that got run, and I threw a old shitty sheet of OSB on for a roof.

Came back again mid week, added store style security gate. Not super beefy but hopefully it helps.

Yeah, I kind of deserve that. My wife is supposed to go back to work in september, once she's traveling again no one complains if I work in the garage till midnight.

It is currently 80% masked off, and I stop by the paint store last week and picked up some pigment and a whole bunch of Red Pearl....

Oh, and there's no way I would drive that thing over there and back:flipoff2:

I bet the owner/family member of the owner/friend of owner stole the stove.

So now you know; it got broken into.....:eek:😬

An observation:
Trees grow.
What will happen to the structure supported by said trees?🤔🤷‍♂️

That one big tree in the back corner might be close enough to the wall/roof to try and run into it eventually but the thing will be long destroyed by volcanic ash before the rest get big enough around to hurt it,

Maybe.... But wouldn't they just have used the combo code to get in?

There is one set of tweaker ish neighbors down the road I guess after talking to a couple other folks.
 
I'd there'd be some type of growth from other than the top.

something I never really thought about though. if you bolt a 2x4 to a 12' pine and come back when its 50' tall, that 2x4 will be at the same height?

exactly. Tree will get fatter, but the bolt location will be the same height. This is the one thing my wife remembered from "botany" class :lmao:

nope. not at any of the forests I've ever been to. And if I did, unless it had the year carved in, I'd just think it was a recent carving.

but yea, never gave that topic any thought. makes sense though.

I have one game cam up, and a motion sensor one that links to my phone also. Plus the gate, hopefully no one else fucks with it. All thr full time neighbors know about the break in now as well.

Maybe? It was all posted online with the listing too, anyone can see what's inside and know its vacant?

At least the broke the handle off the stove in the process.....
 
Cell service there? My buddy has battery cameras at his cabin in Talkeetna that send snapshots, or you can request video.
