I’ve had American Wagyu steaks at high end steakhouses and have always been under impressed. I’d rather stick with a good American prime steak. I’ve never had real Japanese A5 Wagyu, until last night. Absolutely unreal! Certainly won’t be able to do it every night, but it is absolutely worth the price. It truly lives up to the hype.

Stepson bought one at a steakhouse in the city. $200. It was alright. Think it's a textural thing for me. Need a bit more texture with a steak.

Where'd you get it from? I really want to try one but A. they're fucking expensive and B. I'll probably get in my own head and fuck up a $200 piece of meat :lmao:

My local meat market gets it in once in a while. I was a bit nervous about cooking it, but luckily I nailed it (or at least I think I did).

What is local to you ? I thought you were up by Sierraville or Quincy. Was that imported Japanese or an American source beef ? thanks

I'm in ElDorado County, near Georgetown.

I got this at Kings Meats in Diamond Springs. It is real, certified Japanese A5, not the faux American "wagyu".
