What's new

Is there a Speed Queen of dishwashers?

Might give this a whirl at Lowe's tomorrow. There was a Bosch in the open box section but it was still like $900. Didn't realize they had that much discretion on those items.

The Bosch will be the best cheap option.

However, I've found that once you get above the $3-500 contractor track home specials they all work about the same.

The key is keeping them clean and descaled. I clean the trap and run a load of a gallon of vinegar every 6 months to knock all the hard water deposits out.

Once the rinse aid isn't enough to keep the dishes drying clean I know it's time for the acid bath.

We got my buddy a new LG gas dual oven 6 burner stove and matching micro-hood for $900 one day. MSRP was $3200, but we just bugged the manager about the scratch and dent and told him we'd get it loaded and gone without any help once the employees got it out of the door. It has a dent in the side panel against the cupboard that's not visible once installed... :smokin:

Miele

It's what they generally install next to all the Wolf and Sub-Zero stuff in the million $ mansions.

Last time I looked up a part number they were $5k, and that didn't include a face (cabinet faced, have to get your cabinet guy to trim it out...).

Had one where we put in a ton of Miele stuff, washer, dryer, 3 dishwashers. Customer was German and order everything in Germany and shipped it to USA with the rest of his furniture, not a single thing was supported over here my miele, what a cluster.

X whatever bosh the 52 db one or so once you get over there you can’t hear it run. Ss tub, drain strainer and availability of parts reasonably priced.

If you’re getting all new appliances look for the stacking deals the big box stores run around holiday sales. You can pick up a whole kitchen of appliances for 2.5k or so with 40-50% off.

they have virtually unlimited discretion, although i think the final markdown on my deal was cost which is their floor.

They profit over 350% on a dishwasher?
WTF?!

Where I work, our cost of 242 would sell for about $300-325.

Bosch, or Bosch. We replaced a 7 year old whirlpool made (iirc) kenmore that worked as shitty on day one as it did when I smashed it with the mini ex with a bosch and it is night and day better. No prewashing, dishes always clean, has an app that will tell you whats wrong if there is a fault. Only fault we have had was a knife falling in and blocking the wash arm. It stopped the cycle and resumed once it was pulled. It just works. And is silent.

12 years on my high end GE, and we have atrocious water quality. I've had to replace one inlet valve, one door gasket, and one of the LED'S on the control panel quit recently. Going to be very difficult to not replace it with another GE with how well this one has worked out.

Find an appliance store near you, don't just shop at big box stores

Talked to them about the 800 today. It was actually marked down to a shade over $1000. Manager on duty said $850 was the best she could do. I talked to the guy in the appliance ce department at the time and asked him who do I really need to talk to if I want to buy this thing. He gave me the department manager's name and siadshe was constantly bitching about how this shit just piles up and they don't want to discount it to get it gone. She works Thursday so I'll swing back by then.

The PO put in all new kitchen appliances when we bought the house in early 2016, cheapass GE of course. That POS, dishwasher worked OK for a couple years and then we just couldn't keep it from scaling up and the traps clogging up with schmutz, taking that fucker apart every 90 days was getting old. We're on a well and the water is really hard.

Bought a mid-line Bosch in early 2020 and it's been perfect, inside looks spotless, dishes come out spotless and zero maintenance, and it's WAY quieter.

:homer: Where do you put the vinegar?

The wife won’t like that.

Their cost was a little under $900. Original sticker was $1349. She showed me. She marked it down as cosmetically damaged.

I've got a Bosch that was their top of the line about 10 years ago, super duper silent 39db edition. It cleans my dishes and hasn't broken yet, so I call it a success. I have an open floor plan with hard surface floors and I cannot hear it run, not even a little. Obviously new stuff can be shit quality compared to old stuff, but that really applies to any brand. I'd buy a Bosch again.

Of course, I also have a Samsung fridge that people love to rag on, but mines been chugging away for the same amount of time and it's also whisper quiet, so maybe I'm just lucky in kitchen appliances... and nowhere else in my life... :flipoff2:

Your Lowe's looks a little more organized than mine; i've never seen a printed QR clearance sticker like that. all the stores here in the east just have Sharpie marker slashes with Mgr initials.

On my dishwasher- it was a floor model and I pointed out it was missing one of the top/side metal screw install tabs, so the department manager knocked 50% off the lowest marker price.:smokin:

Can't complain about 60% off on a bosch- very good work!

This is in western NC. She did tell me they've gotten a LOT stricter on the open box markdowns but after something sits awhile they'll use the cosmetic damage excuse to get it gone if someone is showing interest.

yeah, charlotte/ north wilkesboro are present/past HQ's so it makes sense that they would be running more by the book

Macerator\impeller not filters.

Brother bought the fancy Bosch with the traditional food chopper 9000 in the bottom, works fine.
Inlaw has the Bosch with the filter in the bottom, sucks.
I'm keeping my ancient whirlpool alive forever. Near 20 years old. Shit clicks inside like it should.
