Any recommendations for interior (house) bulbs that last longer than a month or two? These LED bulbs all start flickering and randomly burning out. Enclosed light fixture or open doesn’t seem to matter.

I miss the old bulbs that burnt the hell out of your hand when turned on, but lasted for years.

I’ve had good luck with Phillips, GE and Feit. I was a somewhat early adopter of led bulbs and still have many in use that are ~10 years old. Fixtures with built in leds are another story but I think it’s the drivers that take a shit in those. Do you have some funky incoming voltage, or using dimmer switches?

No dimmers. Got a solid 120V to the fixtures. I thought it was the fixtures themselves, but when I changed one the wife didn’t like…same thing. Like instantly.

I also have a bitch of a time with LED's. My bathroom eats them constantly, the large globe style ones. And they tend to strobe/flicker in that fixture too. the ge ones in there now have lasted the longest, usually when the cheaper brands flicker a few times they die completely. These have been going for a couple months now.

The rest of the house, they definitely don't last any longer than incandescent did.

I've had the best luck with ge and Phillips. I grabbed the Phillips hd vision on the advice of a lot of people, can't say if they last any longer yet, but they make my wife look solid red.

I think the only bulb I've got with more than a year on it is some Amazon special 200w equivalent in a stand up lamp.

Edit: things that were built with LEDs have been fine. My ceiling fan is 10+yrs old with built ins, and a few lights I replaced downstairs that were made to be led haven't given me any issues.

I just grabbed a pair of GE Soft White LED bulbs (from downtown Dollar General) for the apartment building hallway. It does get annoying to keep exchanging bulbs constantly.

General Purpose 60w, should last 9 yrs-

We had good luck with GE LED bulbs, then the local big-box hardware stores all had zero GEs & a shitload of Feit bulbs, so we bought a few boxes of Feits. Success has been 50/50 with the Feits, not great, so I'm ready to find some more GEs.

. . . if they haven't been torpedoed by ChiCom subsidized, underpriced Feits (<-- pure tinfoil there, zero facts backing up that paranoid conspiracy, but I wouldn't be surprised at that or similar fuckery).

Oh, and I definitely "don't" have a half-case of 60w incandescent bulbs squirreled away somewhere for when all the LEDs simultaneously fail :flipoff2:

Stop trying to buy nice lights and start buying garbage.

I buy the cheapest shit and I replace bulbs WAY less often than I did in the incandescent era.

I don't know how true it is, but dimmable bulbs are supposedly made to handle the voltage spikes better than the nondimmable. Even if you aren't dimming them

Went through the same shit at the 4H camp I ran maintenance for. The whole place had dirty power coming in and the wiring was trash and old. Ended up buying the cheapest dimmable leds and they seemed to work out best.

I buy the cheapest shit and I replace....

Feit ones suck, Phillips and GE are ok. I find any fixture that places the bulb facing down they burn up, horizontal or vertical orientation are fine. Our Kitchen fixtures facing down just eat bulbs but the exact same bulbs in other lights facing up last forever.

I bought a bunch of cree LEDs on clearance at Homo despot for a 0.01 each 8 years ago and I've never replaced any of them. Found like 5 I forgot I had the other day. The only LED bulbs I have replaced were the cheapest bayonet bulbs you could buy on Amazon and the Walmart specials I replaced them with have been solid.
