So a while back my girlfriend mentioned she'd been looking at mini bikes and thought she would enjoy it. Me being an idiot I jumped on marketplace and found one immediately and bought it the next day. It was an orange Coleman bt200x. Not knowing a lot about them it's not a terrible bike but the forks are way too soft and the head tube angle is too vertical so it digs in and tries to high side you if you get aggressive. It also has a centrifugal clutch with a jack shaft reduction so it's not great for beginners. My sister in-law just haaad to have it so I sold it to her.

My nephew wanted one too so I grabbed another one just like it. We've put a belt drive on his and done some performance mods and hid rips pretty well. I'll likely have an update on his at some point if I don't sell him another one of mine.

Between buying the first and second orange bikes my brother said he wanted one too. Picked up a 1962 tote goat and pulled the 212 off of another bike I'd bought and put it on there. It shits & gits for what it is!

Somewhere in there I bought 2 mega moto 212s. No suspension but they have a hydraulic disc brake instead of the mechanical drum like the Coleman bikes. These had a centrifugal clutch direct driving a giant rear sprocket so they were shit off the bottom buy hauled the mail up top.

One of them ran great, the other didn't run so I lowballed him and put a 301 on the non running bike. Got that engine running and put it on the tote goat.

I also swapped both bikes to belt drives, the 301 is a tight fit but it's perfect. I swapped out the 75 tooth sprocket for 53 on both bikes too. Way nicer to ride now all around.

I just bought another mega moto but it has brakes on both ends and front suspension.

I bought a brand new 212 and built it into a stage 5 before putting it in. She rips, should be about 15hp now.

My plan was to put the forks from the new bike and put them on the big block bike but it's not that easy, gotta cut the triple trees apart but I'll get it pretty soon. I picked up pit bike forks and coilovers for the rest so I could do good suspension on the new bike but that plan got changed today.

I'm picking up a 2004 Yamaha ttr225 tomorrow and raping it for the whole front suspension from the head tube to brakes. I have a 10" scooter wheel I'm adapting to it and a 21x7x10 knockoff Max is bighorn for the front. I'm going to try and use the whole swingarm and mono shock too. The pit bike parts will trickle down to another bike.

My nephews wife complains that their bike is shitty for her to ride so I'm going to see if he just wants to buy my 3rd black bike and parts to make himself a ripper.

I ordered the new black bike and the next day a guy posted this Coleman ct200u for $300 on marketplace. A better man would feel bad. 😆 It came with a tote full of new parts worth about $500. I slapped a new 212 on it, ordered a front fender and now I'm just waiting on the chain cover to come in and it's going away.

The tote of parts came with a $75 HD engine block with a 2mm over sized sleeve. I just ordered the stroker crank, carb and misc bits to build it for the new monstrosity mini bike. It should be over 20 HP out of 236 cc. 🤣

mini bikes are cool.

I had the Colman one a couple years ago, got rid of it as I knew I would be eating shit on it sometime soon.

I have been playing with the street legal 50 cc scooters lately, pretty fun, easy, cheap to build.

Makes getting to the store in heavy traffic much easier.

You have quite a collection of them!

Yea it's not a matter of if you're going to wreck. 🤣. There is a dirt bike race on a drained lake bed and we took the mini bikes. I was on the big block bike running about 20 mph with the rear tire spinning about 50 and the rear tire over drove the front and it started going sideways. They have limited steering so I ran out of counter steer in a hurry. Next thing I knew I was sliding head first in the mud on my shoulder blades. 😆 Bike was 270* from it's direction of travel still idling along so I hopped back on and hauled ass. Didn't even feel the impact on the ground.

We can make these street legal in my old home town so that's the plan, I already sneak around town on them but my luck will run out eventually.

I didn't mention the little guy I bought and sold to a friend. Little 89cc deal still had the plastic on the seat. Made a few bucks and made my friend a deal at the same time.

I should mention that all the bikes get the governor removed. Nothing like cracking open a virgin engine to void the warranty. 🤣

Cute lite thing. Hurt like hell to ride with time tired and no suspension.

Went and picked up the bike this am. It's exactly what I expected if not slightly better. 😁 The brakes are functional so I'm already ahead of the curve there. I sent this pic to my nephew on my way home with it and he asked if it ran. Not that I know of but the dude said it turned over. He told me to bring it over. We had to put a bit of oil in the cylinder to get enough compression to fire but it runs. Stay tuned for a 225 engine rebuild and drift shifter cart build after the mini bike builds are done. 🤦

I want to see dual sidecars, a hitch with trailer, and a snow plow. Why have all that power if you aren’t gonna use it?
I wanna see a Dana 60 under your S10 and 44's. Why have all that power and not use it? :flipoff2:

Swing by and we will get to gettin’ haha

I’m ‘retarded’ too.

I used to have like 4 mini bikes. Sold them off and kept my favorite one, DB30 “Racer” as it’s small enough to easily load by myself and to put away after use and lots of fun.

Its top speed is just over 30 mph on flat.

Mods:
212cc 60363 swap with the adapter plate
RuiXing carb re-jetted slightly richer and e-tube
Governor screw deleted
Disabled low oil sensor (cut wire)
Muffler screen deleted (solved the backfire)
Torque converter with #40 chain
Wheel sprocket swapped from MB200 (#35 chain never last long)
Mountain bike hydraulic brake
Thumb throttle lever
Snowblower tires
(The seat is back to stock, no picture)

I know I’m weird but I like the stock muffler and air cleaner as they’re far more robust than rice burner air filter that sticks way out side of the bike and ‘header’ pipe waiting to burn someone leg.

I want to do some more go-fast mods. Not planning on to delete the governor, not yet anyway as it never kick in on me. Unsure on which cam. Mill cylinder head down as much as I can without valve hitting the piston and light porting. +0.040” billet rod and billet flywheel.

They’re fun little side project to have

Don't buy a header that burns your leg and you'll be fine.

The small block bike has a header from a Coleman bt200x that curves nicely and exits outside the frame on the right side. It fits this chassis perfectly. The header on the big block bike is one of the few I found for that engine and it worked out perfectly. I cut a hole in the stock plastic fender and it exits above the rear tire. That one has a sweeping bend off the head so it did burn my leg once before I put header wrap on it. No more problems since.

The header on the new bike is for a go kart. It's built in 2 pieces so I just cut on either side of the weld and slipped it back together to put the pipe right above the rear tire on it too.

Dump the governor and you'll get a bike that's more fun to ride even if you aren't trying to go faster. Being able to get back on the throttle after going quick and letting off makes a huge difference in the riding experience.

I bought the super x cm grind from OMB and used 26 lb springs. She's a ripper for damned sure. That's a lot bigger than what you're after though I'm sure. 😆 The bullet rod and flywheel make a nice addition to the bike. Much easier starting even with the flat top piston and 14cc head I used.

With my surprise day off today I took some time to finish some things on the new bike. I made a filtered baffle for the valve cover breather and I stalled the catch can.

Also rejetted the carb and swapped out the blue for yellow fuel lines so shit matches. :homer: The clutch cover made it's way on today too so now it's relatively safe.

I was going to get all fancy and make a nice mount but it's cold out and I'm a pussy so hose clamp it is!

It’s gonna take you about 2 weeks to get here on one of those.

Thinking to try this one out

That's not a bad cam. A header and carb jetting will make it sing. One thing you might look at is a cast flywheel. They're cheap and supposedly good, I'm going to grab one to try, I figure for the price it should rip.

I’m looking for more oomph out of the hole.

And I’m 90% sure it run gas out of carb’s bowl faster than it can be fed by the tank. It will stall during a long pull and will not restart immediately.

I’m thinking to try tighten torque converter’s driven pulley spring via put in the next hole or a stiffer spring, to let it to rev higher.

All my driven converters get put on the stuff hole first thing. Talking with the main dude from OMB he suggested swapping to the yellow secondary spring. I'm running juggernaut primary clutches on 2 bikes and they're great. We found that orange springs on aluminum weights in a stock primary was a sweet spot too so if you want to save a few bucks go that route.

So I'm still wrenching on these things regularly. The new bike got a gold twist throttle. It was cheap but a few minutes clearancing a couple spots and lubing the whole works has it kicking ass now. Swapped the stainless glass pack off the big block since my girl didn't like it loud and out a stock canister muffler on it and the stainless onto my new bike. It sounds brutal, I really like it.

Put electric start on the big block and a dual charging coil with led headlights. I'll probably add a tail light one if these days. I also put a 21x7x10 tire on the front wheel from the scooter I bought for parts and a new 19x7x8 onto the rear. That front tire is destined for my bike when I do all the suspension swapping but for now it works great on hers.

I picked up an 80cc 2 stroke shifter cart too. 🤦

A family friend dropped by my brothers shop yesterday and saw the go-kart and asked if I wanted another. Of course I do. 🤦

He also mentioned my old odyssey was sitting there too but he'd never let his kids get it rideable but if I wanted it back I could have it too. 😈 It has a 600cc triple on it and it's about 80% done. It has a Honda radiator and the controls mostly hooked up. Nothing I can't finish easily enough I'm sure.

Messaged the dude yesterday on my way to Portland about another mini bike that was listed as sale or trade for another mini bike. Told him I had cash or the red Coleman. He bit and when I got back I grabbed it and went and made the deal. It has some nice parts on it so I'm happy!

Tired still have full nipples, stage 1 kit, new engine with governor intact etc. I'm ditching the bars and putting a twist throttle on it. Thinking it needs a set of mountain bike suspension forks, front disk brakes and a taller skinny tire. I'll set up the rear drum brake to s foot operated setup. The hot rod 236 I'm building will wind up on this one too, drag chopper here we come.
