If you could have any (auto) mechanic superpower, what would it be?

Repetitive fucking commercial on Motortrend TV keeps asking this. Lots of stuff that I hate doing, or suck at, or am envious of.

I'm thinking Telekinesis. Being able to manipulate and straighten out all the wrecked, bent, crashed and thrashed things would be awesome and satisfying. And make me bajillions of dollhairs.

Having equipment diagnosis super power is fun
That's my answer...

Know where a wire went, if it was broken, and how to follow technical diagrams (not wiring diagrams, the hyrogliphic mother fuckers engineerds use)

That could also pull pesky bolts from tight spots. No more removing things to get at that one.
From small to big, drop trannies, pull motors without cherry picker, etc. No more jackstands or lifts needed.

Yeah, that would be it. 1 hour of your labor is equal to many more from traditional work, you could then trade ten minutes of your skill in exchange for computer diagnostics or whatever else you're missing.

Plus you could always abuse your power. No need for gun, just lift any random pebble and launch it at an enemy face at 3,000 fps.

A business partner I could trust.

I shoulda took a partner on a few years ago, instead I tried to take on everything myself while also maintaning a more than full time job because I also have a tremendous fear of being broke, ended up in the hospital and out 180k.

Yeah buddy. But let's not derail with abuse of power options..

I'd be happy to just find the tool I am looking for all over the garage and usually when I just had it in my hand 2 minutes ago
This or the ability to have an instant clean shop with tools put away.

Or the ability to turn off gravity. I swear every time I set anything down, it jumps to the floor immediately.

Diagnosis

In the equipment world that guy can make 150hr right now.

I have no idea what he makes in the aviation world, but I have an acquaintance who does it for Bombardier. He does most of it from his home office, sets his schematics down and walks to his kids bus stop. Sometimes he's gotta fly to Hong Kong too work on a stubborn one:laughing:

Being able to summon the correct tool like Thor summons mjolnir. No getting up to walk over to the toolbox, no guessing at the correct size. Just bam, correct tool, every time.
I would be happy to just remember what tool I just walked across the shop to get when I arrived at the tool box

I’d agree with this. For me this is especially true in the 16 mm - 22 mm vs 11/16 - 1” range. I grab all of them before getting under my junk. I still get humbled sometimes. Good exercise I suppose.

the power of welding using just my fingers..

or

do ya'll keep jars or something with random bolts etc? how about the power to find one that fits right away
