Austin... TX? Nope. Minnesota!
I finally made the jump and picked up the hammer drill and 1/4 compact impact kit along with a 1/2 inch impact kit... Yup. Milwaukee M18 Fuel.

A nearby small-town supplier had a sale with $100 rebate per kit when you bought certain accessories, so I bought the two kits and a set of 1/4" deep/thin impact sockets along with a tape measure. The two kits came with 2 chargers and 4 batteries total, and all for under $800 out the door.

Hopefully I am not too ignorant about prices and this was actually a good deal.

Waiting for the first pair of batteries to finish charging now so I can toy around with the stuff a bit in the shop.

You wont be disappointed... Now you can start buying bare tools since you have 4 batteries... Keep an eye on Northern Tool's website... they run a bunch of good deals around turkey day.

I was removing my plow bracket that had been on my truck for 17 years last weekend. Bolts were solid rust. Air impact wouldn't budge several of them. Grabbed my buddies milwaukee 1/2 impact. Split the first impact socket in 4 spots. Then proceeded to snap of a bunch of the bolts. Got it all off though. Be careful because you can easily snap stuff and make more work for yourself.

I’m digging the Red, just picked up a Leaf Blower. Wowzas seems more powerful than my gas backpack style. May not last all day, but I’m blowing off my driveway not the football team :grinpimp:

Troof. I snapped two 5/8" bolts off in a pump at work with the impact. Two. Yeah im a slow learner.

These M18 threads make it really clear who does and doesn't own a 3/4 or 1" impact.

The funny thing is I have a 3/4" impact... and it can't break the lugs on my RV (spec is 350-450 lb-ft). According to Milwaukee, this should be able to break them. I was going to test that theory today when I play out in the shop. If so, it will be an invaluable addition to the tools I take camping, as for now, I have to use the old tire tool with a cheater pipe method to break and reseat the lugs.

You clearly don't own a Milwaukee M18 1/2" impact.....

I have a bad ass IR 3/4" impact gun on my service truck with the appropriate air hose size for the gun, along with a Milwaukee M18 1/2" impact with 12.0mah batteries. Its the equivalent of my 3/4 gun running 140cfm off the hydraulic driven screw compressor without the bullshit of draging air hose all over a machine and in the dirt. I use it daily for everything. My air guns are VERY jealous.

I as much as I love the 1/2” Milwaukee impact the new 1” drive is awesome for the work I do.

For the guys who work in the field the new cordless shit is a godsend.

M18 here. Use their stuff almost daily around the house.

1/2" impact with 1400ft-lbs says i dont need a 3/4" or 1" impact :flipoff2: or any stupid ass air hose

I don't even get into the 1/2" drive impact, because I really don't need it for the auto work I do. Kroil and my M18 3/8" impact get about everything broken loose with ease. 1/2" is just asking for broken bolts left and right.

I've got my money worth of Milwaukee over the years. The warranty is fantastic and I've only ever had one tool rebuilt, they usually just send a new one in the box. Save the receipt for warranty purposes.
I've dropped them in oil, water, tans fluid, and in the dirt/on concrete. No complaints.

With a few extra batteries in hand already I usually just buy the bare tools. They are much cheaper that way.

I work with tools for a living. Between contracting and metal fab work. I use Milwaukee and its all I buy now ( impacts drivers, drills, sawzalls, impact guns, hole hawgs, sawz alls). I have m18 batteries that are 10 years old and still going strong. I used to run Mikta tools, too many battery failures within 2 years..... The only failure in their tools I have had has been a drill/hammer drill, it gave up the ghost after 2 weeks of drilling 3/8 holes in concrete 8 hrs a day. I don't think you will regret your decision.

Been using Milwaukee for around 10 years now at work, everything cordless is M18 stuff Vac, blower, impacts up to 3/4", sawzall, bandsaw, hammer drill. Only failures have been 1 - 1/2" drill motor died after about 7 years of hard use and a couple of worn out chucks due to heavy handed meatheads who didnt own the equipment and treated it like a rental. The brushless stuff comin out more or less caused us to cut the cord on most everything else and pick up the equivalent in the M18 line. As a homeowner/hobbyist I doubt I will every wear something out tinkering on trucks, atvs, and the inlaws farm.

edit: just to add... work environment for these tools is industrial/construction/fabrication type work. our group maintains, modifies, builds, and installs sounding rocket launchers all over the world for nasa, so the tools at work get the hell beat out of them in all climates and locations from the north pole to the equater to the land down under... honestly its surprising how few failures we've had in the last 10 years of using solely red tools.

Milwaukee has proven their quality to me as well.

My little 1/4" impact was the only impact I had for a long time. So it did EVERY job I needed. Seriously.

I ran it for 10 minutes at a time on camber bolts that were seized in my wife's Tahoe, with a blow torch on the end of the bolt. I've ran that little bugger to the point I couldn't touch it at least ten times. I'm talking like steam would form if you sprayed water on it hot. I've dropped it from countless ladders, shelves, engine bays, just beat the ever-loving-shit out of it. It's still running to this day and does all my jobs I need it to without fail. That little 1/4" is tough, strong, and great for tight spots and it can literally take a beating and keep on going.
