Recently had to replace a watch battery, and my prescription glasses aren't doing it for me anymore, even for lots of packaging print.

I've found the google search term "surgical loupes" for the microscope looking things surgeons wear.

Also found magnifying headgear or headband.

Do you wear these over top prescription glasses, or do you not need your prescription while wearing?

What works for you old fuckers in a shop environment?

I'm thinking the classic square one pictured in the middle, just not sure if they fit over glasses.

I've got loupes for watch stuff, they help.

Ots just a magnifying glass hands free, keep your eyeglasses for the over the head ones

I only need help on incredibly tiny print, which is when I take a pic with my smartphone I can zoom in on. I have one of those plastic headgear ones but I haven't used it at all yet.

I have (had RIP) a very good machinist friend that used the square one (#2). He was an artist and could turn out anything. He wore them over his regular prescription glasses. The flip-up feature is super helpful.

my close-up vision is deteriorating quickly. I need strong light (natural sunlight is best) but still having to put on some readers more often than I like. My distance vision is fine (I do wear contacts) but I have a pair of readers that I now carry in the work bag.

I have a couple of magnifying lights mounted to the workbench too. Extremely helpful. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=magnifying+light&crid=27TDR2A3AD98U&sprefix=magnifying+light,aps,466&ref=nb_sb_ss_pltr-xclick_1_16 There is one on amazon that is floor mounted on wheels. I can see that super cool to wheel around to the mill, the lathe, the saw, over to an engine compartment, etc....

Also check out ThinOptics | Slim Reading Glasses in Durably Convenient Cases - not for shop work, but super handy to slide in your pocket, keychain, or mount to the back of your phone. You always have your phone and keys right? I was in Ireland last summer and a friend had them (I didn't need them yet) but I remembered them

Just about all my peers (I'm 49) are having the same affliction - it just happens. Additionally, I think fonts are getting smaller and smaller. It's not just pill bottles either :/

I use a desk mounted magnifying glass for fly tying. I have no clue how folks do it without one.
