Crazy story on this guy. Chased a doe across the rd. I went where he jumped in and he had it pinned down 5 feet from me.boom

Hell yeah buddy! I got one last year with a similar story. Was that localish?

Yup. About 15 minutes down the rd from my house. Hadn't even had my coffee yet. Was still talking about where I wanted to walk that morning and all the sudden this played out like a cartoon 😆

Awesome!
I was cruising an overgrown road in the 4runner, saw a big ass house sized rock in the bush and was lookin at it, it had another one leaning on it, as we drew even with it caught the flash of the cat jumping out from between em. Bailed out and couldn't see it, checked trees, then saw it at about 30' full butt wiggle and staring at me.

Saw another one about a week later too, out towards Bamfield, just cruising through the bush yowling like mad.

I ve never had it before but just seeing it as I skinned him yesterday it felt like really tender chicken texture.. like butter almost. So surprised since they are lean mean machines I expected them to b a little tougher grain in the muscle structure. Most people compare it to chicken or pork. I'll find out soon

Guess I need to add that to the list of stuff to try before I die. I suppose being tender kind of makes sense. Cats sleep a lot of the time, even the big ones, and aren't on their feet constantly finding stuff to chew on like herbivores.

Steven Rinella did an exclusive episode for OnXHunt members and he cooks mountain lion in the episode. He said it’s delicious. Cooks up back straps and hind quarters.

Spent a week in the woods disconnected from the world. Covered a bunch of miles of timber. Saw 14 bucks, 4 of which were legal based on antler restrictions. Ended up passing those for various reasons, but it was a great hunt. Had some cool interactions with wildlife. Have a video of a 4 pt that came within 10 yards of me. Buddy tagged a nice 11. The three mile hike with it out of the woods wasn’t as fun.

Very nice. I hunted this past week with a bow and as I was climbing down out of the stand the neigbor or someone on their property cut loose with a muzzleloader. I have a feeling they shot the big 8 pointer I was after. All I saw today was a button buck, squirrels and one trash panda.

I have had an AWESOME bow season and yet, have shot nothing yet.
I missed a coyote a few weeks back while deer hunting, I think I was more bummed about that than anything I've missed before. I shot right over him, but sat it out in the stand until after dark just watching my lumi-nock taunt me. I had high hopes that I had punched through him and he had died right over the hill.
Last Friday evening I had one of the best deer hunting evenings ever - got to the stand around 2pm and was clipped on to my bow all but maybe 10 minutes. I had deer in my scent cone at 10 yards, 3 bucks walk by. Only 1 within range which was a great old 10pt and I shot at him at 23 yards right at twilight... and found a twig. It was like I hit a force field. I can't even say I was that sad that I missed him, I was just excited for an opportunity to try and shoot (and actually VERY glad to have missed him completely instead of wound) at an old buck.
Tuesday I took off work a few hours early and it was DEAD quiet. The most quiet I've ever heard the timber, an eerily quiet. Had 1 deer come in, a small 8pt and I drew and held on him at 18 yards, but he was about the size of the first buck I ever shot. I am NOT a trophy hunter, but we have other opportunities for does for meat, I'd rather give him an opportunity to grow.
Tonight I hunted a stand I had never hunted before, perfect for a North wind. I grunted and rattled a buck in from 350 yards, just didn't give me a shot. He crossed a deep creek and stood about 45 yards away from me through the timber looking for the action before getting distracted by live action about 100 yards away from me.

Love this time of year - even in post-rut, they're still active.

Shot this one a week ago. 300ish yards, one shot one kill. Bullet went through her mouth, cut her toungue off and lunged her. DRT. it was one of my most glorious shots ever.

The rest of my party filled their tags as well. None of them can shoot for shit, so Mr. Longrifle and Betsy did some work. 4 dead Elk in 2 days.

5 rounds through Betsy.

After spending 40 hours in the stand last week, I finally got it done!
I've spent more time hunting this past season than I have before. It was an awesome season, lots of bobcats and coyotes and some new deer. Relieved on one hand, but also disappointed to be done for now. However, I'm way behind on work and house/shop stuff, so will finally have some time to get caught up!
